They have us taking Allen Bailey, DE out of Miami, and Justin Houston, a linebacker from Georgia.

I thought that Bailey looked like he was counting 1-Mississippi, 2-Mississippi, 3-Mississippi before he decided to get out of his stand in the bowl game. I couldn't believe how slow he waws getting out of his stance. Maybbe it was because the entire Miami team was disinterested at best in playing, but what does that say about him?
I watch most of the Georgia games and people began touting Houston a few weeks ago, he does not seem to be big enough for OLB in the Pats system. He doesn't consistantly get to the QB in college, I don't see how that translates to a first round pick.

I completely agree. Bailey has some physical talent but he just isn't a Patriots type player. Chemistry and discipline are a huge part of this team and I just dont see Bailey fitting that.
I really like Houston as a player but he is just too small for the Pats 3-4 OLB. I think he would be a good fit for a team like Atlanta at the end of round 1 as a 4-3 OLB.

Completely agree about Bailey. Just don't see him as a fit here.
I am not an expert on the play of Houston, but how is he too small?? Every websight I can find lists him at 6'3-258 or 260.

TBC - 6'2 250
Ninko - 6'2 255
JC - 6'3 260
Vrabel was 6'4 260
They may list him at 6'3, but he's only 6'2 3/8. Ninkovich is still a work in progress and TBC was a flash in the pan... They were also a UDFA and 8th round pick, respectively. Cunningham is a solid 6'3 and an 3/8. And has a large wing span as well..
There is a difference between 6'2 3/8 and 6'4 2/8 (which is where Vrabel was).
it thing played out according to their predictions, I would take OLB aldon smith at 17, RB Mikel Leshoure at 32, OT demarcus love at 33 and DT jarvis jenkins at 64

where did you get your information about houston's height?
Completely agree about Bailey. Just don't see him as a fit here.

I meant in size not height. He also did not have a single tackle in Georgia's uninspired loss the UCF in the Liberty Bowl. Georgia just switched to the 3-4 this year, he has ten sacks, he did play DE last year, so maybe he is more stoud than I remember.

What a strange characterization of Banta-Cain! Banta-Cain is a solid OLB/DE backup and has been so for several years. Belichick has been forced to use him much more than he should have been used because of Belichick's failure to bring in better OLB's. Banta-Cain is who he is: a solid OLB/DE and special teamer. He is not a pro-bowl quality player, never has been and never will be. He is the opposite of a "flash in the pan". The fact is that Banta-Cain was overrated by those who only looked at his sack totals in 2009.
To put this in perspective, we have three solid backups at OLB/DE: Banta-Cain, Ninkovich and now Moore. We have one solid developing starter in Cunningham. We need one more solid starter. If not, we will still have a solid group.
The BOTTOM LINE is that the OLB's have been performing very well, given their talent level. If Peppers had been brought in we would have been discussing a very fine set of backers. Belichick decided to bring in Cunningham and Spikes, both fine choices (and better cap-wise choices than Peppers).
