They traded their #5 for Holmes and their #3 for Cromartie although that will likely end up as the #2 as it moves up based on playing time.

I think there's a swap of minor picks in the 7th (O'Connell and Rhodes trades) but at the end I think they will have their 1,3,4 in the first 5 rounds. Compared to our 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,5 of course

So basically, the Jets are again screwed as far as depth is concerned. I wish I had that list comparing the backups in the AFC East. The Jets had UDFAs as primary backups for like 3 positions.

Not sure about that, when cancelling out picks of ours and theirs that are equal we "only" have an extra 1,2,2,3,5 compared to them; oh, OK, screwed

The Jets have picks in each round except for 2,7 (Cromartie, Kevin O'Connell).

Their big issue next year is going to be resigning Free Agents in 2011. All of these guys are UFA.

K Nick Folk
P Steve Weatherford
QB Kellen Clemens
FB Tony Richardson
WR Braylon Edwards
WR Santonio Holmes
WR/KR Brad Smith
T Wayne Hunter
C/G Robert Turner
DE Shaun Ellis
DE Trevor Pryce
ILB David Harris
ILB Lance Laury
CB Antonio Cromartie
CB Drew Coleman
SS James Ihedigbo
FS Brodney Pool
FS Eric Smith

I can see alot of these guys going elsewhere next year for more money because the Jets can't afford to pay for them. In 2011 the Jets have 36 players signed to contracts that equal about $110.5 Mil in Cap Money. So if a Salary Cap comes back they are in a world of hurt. Conversly the Pats have 45 players signed for next year at $98 Mil in Cap Money. So not only are we getting more draft picks we are set up financially to get Free Agents as well.

Sorry, the 5th rounder for Holmes was in the last draft not this upcoming one, my mistake.

Those 4 will be wanting a lot of money, and I can't see Pool or Smith taking much of a discount.

Creator of the Pats must draft Jason Verrett in 2014 no matter the cost fanclub.

And if I'm the Pats, I'm looking at Brad Smith and thinking he can be another all purpose weapon in Foxboro.

The Jets have pushed all of their chips to the middle of the table and have gone all in on this season. If it works and they come away with the Lombardi (puke) then it was a good move. If it fails and they don't get the Lombardi, they are another year deep without a Super Bowl appearance and are now looking at a re-building period without the suitable draft picks to do it.

Never too familiar with this, thanks for clearing it up! But I'm just curious to see what hole the Rats are in come 2011. Might be a big one!
