Default Mike Pouncey

Just reading up on how well Maurkice Pouncey has done this year, I remembered he has a brother (twin, actually). Seems to be doing pretty well and is regarded as a late first-rounder.

I'm wondering what people think about picking Mike P. with 1B or the Panthers pick if available? On the plus side it's a good chance to add youth to an aging line (Neal might just retire for good after this year). On the argument against, you could make the case that the O line has done pretty well and there are bigger needs elsewhere.

I like Mike, but I wouldn't want to risk drafting him for Center, which would mean we'd be spending a Top 35 pick on a Guard. And with this year offering unprecedented Depth of Talent at Defensive End and at Flanker, I'd rather see us fire up those positions, which, in my view, need upgrading considerably more than Guard.

On the other hand, Ben Ijalana of Villanova is projected as a 3rd Rounder, and I like him even more than Pouncey, Hudson, or any'f'm, for that matter. Could be a perfect pickup with Randy's Ransom.

I haven't really watched him closely the last few weeks. But earlier in the year he couldn't shotgun snap to save his life. His regular snaps weren't all that great either. So his future is probably at OG, and to paraphrase OTG, an OG that early may be overspending.

Personally, I hate taking interior OL that early. Even OCs.

He should NEVER be drafted as a center. It's not his natural position. As a guard? Hell yeah, I would take him.
