Ok, maybe that's not the most appealing imagery, but...
This year, given the current odd distribution of draft picks the team holds and the way Pats-style talent lines up, the Patriots are set up to move all over the board. Whether it's up, down or out I have no clue, but standing pat seems unlikely. As if reading BB/SP's minds weren't tough enough already!
In this scenario, trying to predict choices with value slots and strategic stacking looks like an exercise in frustration. So I'm thinking, here's how I want to make my target list:
As you watch and read, what players just feel like Patriots to you?
Take Dan Santucci, OG, Notre Dame, who has been mentioned here occasionally. He was recruited as a DE then switched to the o-line halfway through school. As a result he's a little raw in his technique still and "only" 300 lbs, but agile and athletic for the position. Santucci is consistently described as intelligent, aggressive and tenacious in his play, with great work habits. He has flourished in our pal Charlie's offense and was named a team captain.
Oh, and he's a redhead with a beard. Don't you want to measure him for his flying Elvis already?
Who else seems just...umm...smells like a Patriot?

Santucci, while sounding like a Patriot, has a lot of competition in front of him With Kopen, Mankins, Neal, Hochstein, Yates, Mruczkowski and Barthelmes. I would be very surprised if BB brought in a guard who can't also play center. Santucci MAY be able to do it, but has never done it in the past. That means he's probably destined for the practice squad. Which would be fine. The problem is getting him there.

Can you stick to the topic?

Some say he has small legs, other say he is slow as dirt, but athletism aside, Paul Poz smells more like a Patriot then any LB in the draft. Now that said, I doubt he gets drafted because of his athletic limitations and also his hyped name. Player hype is usually a direct inverse relationship with whom the Patriots draft, if you've heard of him often...he won't be drafted.

In front of his team after a 28-10 loss to the Packers in 2002, Belichick said: "We have a lot of smart guys in this room, but on the football field we play like a bunch of f------- morons. If you are one of the players flinching at the harshness of these words, you might as well begin packing. There is no way you are going to last as a New England Patriot."
Posluzny was the first Penn State underclassman to be voted one of the team captians since 1968 (I think). That is impressive.
He can play inside or outside. He's smart and athletic. Super instinctive.
I have no problem taking Posluzny and having him backup Tedy and play ST for a year. Hopefully next year we can grab Vandy's Goff at #32 so he can play beside Posluzny when Vrabel retires.
She's been too busy moderating and building her draft board to shower regularly. I understand her husband is a fan of the movie Overboard and has a rain barrel set up on the front porch for the occasional bought of catalepsy.

I'd look for underrated, blue collar type prospects. Guys with a record for good work ethic, playbook smarts, and no character issues! Sorry Meriweather! You smell more like thug than Patriot. I know I just had to take a shot.
What does a Patriot smell like? Well workout for about an hour, drink a bottle of water so that you don't get dehydrated, than sniff your clothing. Smells kind of like that, except manlier. I'm sure Giselle could give you some even better hints. Aah I couldn't resist that either!
