Default Thaddeus Gibson - Am I missing something here?
I see that Pat Kirwan has us taking him in the 2nd. Haven't heard much about him but looks like an absolute stud. 10 sacks and 25 TFL in 23 games, 4.58 40, 6' 2" 245, but looks much bigger and has a huge wingspan. Anyone know the downside with this kid?

He's a little short and limited athletically, but he's a fine second-tier OLB prospect. 2nd seems a bit early, but not having a third, he could be an option at 53, depending on what the earlier options are.

Not big enough. He gets pushed around by bigger players too often. Apparently has a ton of problems shedding blockers to get to QB

2nd rounders aren't supposed to have much downside, so I don't know what you're asking. Anyway, too short and small to play OLB? That's a good downside. Plus the always present "how well will he learn to play OLB in NE's system".

FWIW, he actually has a pretty short wingspan and very small hands, and that 4.58 was from a friendly pro day -- he ran 4.78 at the Combine.

More generally, the knock on Gibson is lack of instincts and recognition skills for a a read-and-react scheme.

Seems like your run of the mill, special teamer / backup <-- see Pierre Woods

Could have some value as a rush specialist but it not like he dominated against Toledo or New Mexico State.
