Default If we had #11, would you be trading down?

I rather think that most here would sit tight at 11, hoping to get a stud (rather than trade down for a 22 and 44), expecially given that we still would have a 47and a 53. If this is true, the same folks should want to move up, for their favorite who they would hope to be available. Wouldn't it great to consider a board of players that we would like to draft at 11.
======================

If we had #11, would you be trading down? I think that this is the same question as whether we would move up to 11. Many think that this is a differnt question.

Obviously, everything depends on who is there and whether the trade is available, but let us say that we could trade.
=====================

Isn't the issue whether the patriots are better off picking one player at 11 or two players at 22 and 44, or even three players with a trade down from 22.
=====================

Many believe that we would likely get more production from one top choice.

For me, it would all depend on knowing what I have in Darius Butler. If I believe Butler is the answer at CB, then I trade down for 2 players who have 1st round value.

If I am of the opinion that Butler is a nickel back at best, I wait at 11 and take Joe Haden, or if he's picked before 11, I trade down.

Haden is the only guy I pick at 11, and even then I only pick him IF I believe Butler is not the answer. The only other guy up there that remotely interests me is Derrick Morgan.

No other player is worth it at 11. I see no value there that I don't see at 22.

If someone put a gun to my head and said, "Pick between JPP and Jerry Hughes," I have a very difficult decision to make. It is not a lock that I take JPP. I would definitely choose Hughes and another player over JPP.

So, trade down is my answer, unless the coaches don't believe in Butler. Haden is the only guy with real value for the Patriots.

BB usually addresses our biggest hole with the 1st draft pick. Our need this year has to be DE, and finding great 3-4 DEs isnt easy. Many forum guys like the idea of Odrick, but with so many other 3-4 teams ahead of us he may not be there(see Tyson Jackson last year!). If we got up to 11, and we thought either of the 2 best DL(McCoy/Suh)could play that spot it might be the best chance to get such a player for YEARS. We have so many draft picks, so many young players from the last couple drafts have already supplanted our old defensive stalwarts, we may be too young. At some point quality has to win out over quantity. This team has always relied on impact players and used JAGs to fill in other spots. I dont think levelling the talent does anything but build depth. And if we are playing, relying on 2nd string players this team wont be going far anyways. At some point you have to gamble on getting impact players, and you ALWAYS have to pay for em!

This is pretty much how I feel too.

How is this different from the "Would you trade up to 11" thread?

I think the sweet spot in this draft is the late 1st early 2nd. Haden, Berry & Suh will likely be gone by the 11th pick ( & 2 of the 3 don't even fill a huge need on this team ) I don't want any of the OLB's, WR's, TE's or DE's @11. I hope the Pats trade down with their 1st & move up with the late 2nd.

Of course I would trade down if I could generate extra value.
Who is there at 11 that is so much better than who is there at 22 or 25 for that matter?

R. McClain? Incurable Crohns.
S. Kindle? Solid run stopper, but not a beast passrusher, which is what the Pats need the most.
D. Williams? He's more of a 4-3 defensive tackle than a 3-4 defensive end.

There really aren't any MUST HAVE players at 11 and this draft is DEEP. Unless you're getting an instant, can't miss starter, Trade Back and pick up extra value? Yes please.

And the way you put the question, you seem to be trying to say the same thing as - the Pats should trade up to #11. I just don't see it in this draft. What prospects are you so enamored with that it would be worth losing a valuable 2nd round pick in a deep draft? Please enlighten me.

There should be no difference. However, my guess is that if we had pick 11, many more would want us to pick at 11, than is now the case.
