Silly me, I thought KC brought Weis in to work with Cassel. KC is my sleeper pick to be around 8-8 this year... they just need a couple OL.

I would totally watch Denver games if this happened, I'm thinking that with Charlie Weis as OC in KC he's going to want his guy, Clausen, as QB, not Cassel, who was more of a McDaniels guy. Orton is probably a stopgap in Denver and I'm sure McDaniels would love to have Cassel back, so what if KC were to draft Clausen, and trade Cassel to Denver in exchange for their 1st round pick.
What say you?
I say your smoking Kiper's wanker. Seriously.
Todd Haley is the HC and he is the one who wanted Cassel. I'd put major money that when he was talking to Weis, he asked Weis if he felt he could work with Cassel and Weis being hired hinged on that answer.
McDaniels had every chance to get Cassel. Your claim that McDaniels didn't really have a serious chance to get Cassel is absolutely bogus on your part. Or don't you remember the 3 way deal with Tampa????
As for your comments about the Lions. They brought in new management last year. I guess you fell asleep for that one.
Sorry, but you didn't roll snake-eyes with this thread.. You rolled craps..

For starters, I detest Mel Kiper, I had the idea on my own, nothing to do with him.
- From what I read the 3 way Tampa thing never got any serious traction, it was proposed and then it leaked and all hell broke loose.
- Todd Hailey might very well have wanted Cassel but Hailey also seems absolutely crazy, I couldn't believe how he threw Cassel under the bus after a bad game BY THE TEAM and said he'd be more than happy to throw someone else in as QB if they did better. Contrast that to BB, who said that he 'would not bring in an outside vet because Cassel is the backup and can do a better job than anyone else backing up the team'. One method inspires confidence in the player and the other one tears his down and gives him a disproportionate share of the blame.
I could easily see Hailey have an overly strong cup off coffee, stub his toe, and decide Cassel is the problem and needs to go.
- As for the Lions new management, after Stafford's injury they publicly stated that they wanted him on the field ASAP, that they wanted wins and that him being completely healthy was not as important. I'm sorry but that's flat out insane, you could amputate both of Stafford'd legs and it wouldn't make a meaningful difference regarding their playoff hopes.
Getting a potential top-notch QB without a line to protect him is a great way to destroy that potential. No, the Lion's management sucks.

It won't happen because the cap penalties for trading Cassel would be too heavy. KC is married to Cassel for the foreseeable future. Now they need to surround him with a good OL and decent offensive weapons.
Hypothetically, suppose Cassel were to agree to a new contract without all that guaranteed money, so there would be no cap penalties for KC, provided that Denver agree to make good that money IF he was traded to them. I'm not sure if it would fly according to the league but Cassel wouldn't be "traded" until he signed the contract with Denver, could that work?
