Re: So how would you feel about Tim Tebow as our first round pick??
Everyone had the Pats taking Pat White in the second round too. It was such a strong rumor that the Dolphins wasted a pick to trade up to get him before the Pats.
I never believed that rumor since the start of the wildcat fad, the Pats haven't run it once that I can remember. I don't believe the Pats will draft Tebow especially with so many other spots they need to fill.

As a Pats fan, I'd feel it would be a ridiculous move for a team with numerous holes. Why use a first round pick on a Slash/Wildcat QB type player, a guy with no real position in base packages who might be able to play half a dozen plays a game - plays that would take the ball out of the hands of one of the best QBs who ever lived?
Which is why it ain't happening. The wildcat is just a fad and for the second straight season it's faded down the stretch...

If Tebow displays teachability and adaptability (which I'm sure he will), along with accuracy (which I'm not as sure of) at the combine and/or private workouts, he'll shoot up the charts. He and Suh are probably the two best players in the draft. The only real question about Tebow is whether or not he has a position in the NFL. If he throws with enough accuracy to ease the minds of critics, he could easily end up at the very top of the draft. If he falls to the second round, I could easily see BB deciding that he's worth the gamble.

Re: So how would you feel about Tim Tebow as our first round pick??
Taking him in the first round would be enraging with the needs we have going into the draft (provided we don't fill lots of holes in free agency). If we got him later on in the second, I would be happy with that. Using him as a TE with some passing options would add the attack back into this offense we really lacked some of the season, if we are looking as a future replacement for Brady, they should keep looking. He is a physical player and is going to help whoever he goes to, but not as a starting QB.
Re: So how would you feel about Tim Tebow as our first round pick??
I really don't understand why any draft 'experts' would think the Pats would select Tebow early. As mentioned earlier in the thread there are far more pressing needs, such as DE and OLB.
My guess is that Tebow goes to Jacksonville. Drafting the local hero would do more to help ticket sales for the Jaguars - who have by far the league's worst attendance - than any other roster move would.

I still don't get it. If we want him as a TE then we can probably get Gresham who I would far prefer. If we want him as a QB then we aren't re-signing Brady which I don't see. But they're the only chances I see, that we think he'll be a stud TE or we'll get a QB now then Franchise and Trade Brady. NOT that I think the latter would happen but that's the only way Tebow in the first make sense to me.

Simple - they're lazy and see the Urban Myers connection plus the versatility and that's the pick. I do love Tebow the guy, I just wouldn't take him there.

Sorry, I don't know if Belichick is going to use a second round pick on a project at this point. Maybe the middle part of this decade when he had few holes to fill, but not this year. I could be wrong.
If they do figure out a CBA that has a hard rookie cap by draft day, I see the Pats using one or two of their second rounders to move up in the draft.
Re: So how would you feel about Tim Tebow as our first round pick??
I'd be disgusted if we used our 1st rounder on Tebow. I'd be mad if we even used a 2nd rounder on him. He is in no way, shape, or form a good QB prospect. He has bad mechanics, doesn't throw a tight spiral, and doesn't have great accuracy. He is a guy that can probably come into the NFL and be a TE or H-Back or come in for certain wildcat packages and be a threat to run or throw like a Pat White. But he's not fast, quick, and elusive like White. He's more of a power runner. It's one thing to be trucking college LB's, it's another thing to try to run through a Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis in the NFL.
However, the Pats have never run the wildcat because they have Tom Brady at QB. Why take the ball out of his hands? And they don't use their TE's that much in the passing game. I don't care what type of leader or great person Tebow is, there is no need for him. This team needs help at LB, OL, DL, and WR before it can waste a pick on a guy like Tebow.
Re: So how would you feel about Tim Tebow as our first round pick??
If Tebow can throw with accuracy, he'll be a top QB prospect, even if it's as a long-term development sort of situation. Why would BB pass that up, ESPECIALLY if the kid's a project? At this point in Brady's career, getting a project QB is much better for the team than getting a QB who's ready to go. Imagine having a high character kid like Tebow backing up Brady for 3 years before even having to think about whether he's ready to be the team's starter....
I'm not saying that Belichick will pull the trigger on the move. I'm saying that makes sense in round 2, that's all.
