Simple question for all you college watchers...Why is Tebow projected to play everywhere other than QB ? As a high profile college QB I'm not sure why he isn't being talked about as an NFL QB. Why is this ?
I'm guessing he maybe plays in a system where he doesn't throw the ball a lot or is part of a Wildcat offence. Perhaps he runs the ball..don't know but none of the commentators have him as an NFL QB.
What do you fine people think ?

Others will add more but his mechanics are bad (verrrrrry slow delivery), his accuracy is iffy, he doesn't make a lot of "pro" throws and he doesn't have a lot of "pro" reads to make so he has a steep learning curve.
Because Florida were on TV nearly every week here, it was pretty clear to see from watching he would make a better RB/FB then QB, he runs well but as mentioned above he has a very slow release (Leftwich is an example off the top of my head), he isn't very accurate and the reads he made seemed to be Hernandez (TE), Cooper (WR) if they aren't open, run.
Tebow's throwing motion is horrible, he basically winds up from below his waist and then brings the ball up and throws sidearm. In the tight pockets in the NFL, with lineman and LB adept at swiping the ball out, he would own the fumble record if he started. In the spread offense, he does not read the secondary, he reads one receiver if he's open, throw it, if not run. He has almost never taken a snap from center, and has never executed a 3 or 5 step drop back. He does not possess any of the skills of a NFL QB.
Unlike other college running QBs, he has no speed or elusiveness, he relies on basically running over people (anyone think he will last long in the NFL doing that). I don't know about his hands, my best guess is that he could be a TE or mabe an H back, but can he block? Unless you want to run the spread offense (which I guess you could put in, just to make other teams have to prepare for it) he will be a waste of a draft pick.

Why do Florida have a QB who has such a limited QB skill set ? Is this the way Florida historically run their offence or have they simply moulded their team around what Tebow does do well ?

I think the next secondary read he makes will be his first. He breaks the huddle knowing who the pass is designed for. If it's not open, he runs. I suppose this can be learned, but it takes a big time investment with no certain results. It's possible that regardless of the hours spent studying film, he'll never catch on.
In the NFL, whatever team he plays for is not going to have the talent advantage UF has. I don't even think he'll be an effective Wildcat QB in the pros.

If an NFL teams takes him as a QB, they will have to revamp his entire throwing motion, footwork and teach him how to take a snap under center. Then he has to learn to read NFL defenses and make protection calls. This is more than most QB's have to learn.
But I think he could be successful in a modified spread option offense for the pros, if only for a few plays a game as long as he has the option to pass occasionally.

NO, this is the Urban Meyer Offense:
The Florida offense is perfect for Teabow, it is the same offense in which Alex Smith excelled at in Utah, it has taken Smith 5 years to get to an acceptable level of competence in the NFL (considering he was the top pick in the draft, that is a daming statement). Smith is better than Tebow in every conciveable way as far as a QB skill set is concerned.
You could draft Tebow and run Urban's spread offense, but how long do you think it would take Tebow to get crushed in the NFL? He went up against a Pro style defense with alot of would be Pros on it against Alabama and they got killed.
To quote the ole ball coach, "there ain't no Vanderbilts in the NFL"

Great annalysis!!
To start I agree with his throwing mechanics as he does bring the ball below his waist everytime he throws which NFL db's would get that extra split second to close on the receiver. Most NFL QB's keep everything tight and everyone raves about having a quick release (Dan M. or Tony Romo) are two of the quickest I have ever seen. He does get the job done in college with a system that is built for him by Meyer and that is the reason why he was their QB.
It would be an interesting concept if a NFL team would draft him and change to a completely spread offense but you would need to find the kind of backup to fit that mold as well. Teabow is a class act and does have some great skills but he hardly ever takes a snap under center. To start now getting the footwork on three, five and seven step drops at this point in his career I think would be tough but hell Flaco was able to do it. I really see him more as a HB role in the mold of Chris Cooley if he can catch the ball??
The kid is special but will have a hard time adjusting his game to the NFL but I think that is where he wants to play or at least get his shot.
