7 picks in the first 3 rounds is possible via either getting 2 picks in the '09 draft for Cassel or through trade downs if only 1 '09 pick is in a projected Cassel trade.
If the Patriots do end up with 7 (or even) 6 picks in the first 3 rounds, I'd hope they would trade one or more of them for either an established player (my preference) or future draft picks. Everyone drafted in the first 3 rounds has to make your football team, and I can't see the Patriots carrying more than 6-8 rookies on next years squad. We'd still have 4 later picks and undrafted free agents to consider. This year we had Mayo, Wheatley, Crable, O'Connell, Wilhite, Slater, and Guyton make the opening day roster for a total of 7 rookies.
