Just a quick note for anyone wondering why Danny Woodhead wasn't out at practice on Saturday, it looks like he had a pretty good reason.
There's no official word on his absence, but according to Sergio Brown, Woodhead is apparently the father of a new little baby girl judging by this Tweet.
Woodhead's absence comes a couple of days after he carried five times for 17 yards during Thursday night's 42-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Woodhead did have a fumble on the team's second offensive play from scrimmage (the first play was a fumble by Aaron Hernandez) that he recovered, but better to get the kinks out of the way now rather than during the regular season.
Woodhead is heading into his second year in New England, and had a solid first season. The 26-year finished with 97 carries for 547 yards and five touchdowns in 2010.
Needless to say, congratulations to the Patriots runningback. Between football starting again and now this, he'll be a busy guy in the coming months.
UPDATE - Sunday 8/14: Woodhead met with the media Sunday and - for those of you wondering - revealed that his new daughter is named Gia.
