Monique Walker of the Boston Globe reported on Friday that there may be another reason why we haven't seen runningback Laurence Maroney very much during this preseason.

According to the report his lack of playing time could have been due to injuries. Citing a league source, Walker reports that Maroney has been dealing with a number of issues, including an abdominal strain and groin and ankle injuries.
Those injuries have not kept Maroney out of practices, however he's seen very limited action during each preseason contest, carrying the ball 17-times for 62 yards (3.6 avg) and two touchdowns. He carried 9-times for 32 of those yards last night.
What that means for his future is still unknown, but at least it may shed a bit more light as to why we haven't seen him play more. Although the fact that when he did play it was with the second offense, so that still raises an eyebrow. Now we'll have to wait until tomorrow before we know for sure if that means he may not be here this season.
Other published reports predict it could potentially be Sammy Morris as the odd man out - although the ironic part is that Morris and Maroney are both the team's leading rushers (respectively) this preseason.
Needless to say, stay tuned...
