Julian Edelman was sensational last night. With 90 yards, he was all over the place. Tom Brady had a great few drives and Randy Moss was involved some plays. Zoltan Mesko had an average of 43.4 per punt, which is already better than Chris Hanson, and Hoyer looked like a capable backup. So overall, it was a good game for a preseason game.
What I liked:
- Julian Edelman gets better with every game.
- The defense got to Drew Brees
- The offensive line held up without Mankins
- The Patriots were great in the red zone
Highlights:
- Green-Ellis ran in for a 6 yard touchdown
- Marques Murrell sacked Drew Brees
- Edelman returned a punt for 40 yards to the Saint’s 19
- Devin McCourty returns a kickoff for 52 yards
- Eric Alexander intercepted Daniels
A Look at the Rookies:
- Ben Tate caught a pass for 20 yards
- Devin McCourty returned a kickoff for 52 yards
- Brandon Spikes had 8 total tacks and 3 solo ones
Stats:
Passing:
- Tom Brady – 5/8 67 yards
- Brian Hoyer – 8/13 106 yards
- Zac Robson – 3/8 47 yards
Running:
- Chris Taylor – 8 carries for 29 yards
- BenJarvus Green-Ellis – 11 carries for 34 yards, 1 touchdown
- Lawrence Maroney – 8 carries for 30 yards, 2 touchdowns
- Thomas Clayton - 4 carries for 13 yards
Receiving:
- Julian Edelman – 6 catches for 90 yards
- Randy Moss – 2 catches for 30 yards
A lasting question:
- Where the Patriots shopping Green-Ellis?
