FOXBORO, MA -- The New England Patriots released their injury report on Wednesday, and while the list was short, the names on it definitely didn't provide fans with much relief heading into Sunday's showdown against the Indianapolis Colts.
The most notable name on the report was defensive end Richard Seymour, who suffered a knee injury during the Patriots' win over the New York Jets back on December 26th. Seymour sat out the San Francisco game and many had hoped that he'd be ready to go for the team's first playoff game, but when the report was released on Wednesday he was listed as "Questionable" (50-50 chance he'll play) and had also missed time on the practice field.
To make matters worse several published reports have also said that Seymour wasn't seen on the practice field on Tuesday and was the only player not in attendance. Such reports definitely raise cause for concern for the defensive end's chances of playing on Sunday. Seymour is an intricate part of the Patriots defensive line and his loss would definitely be felt up front.
Meanwhile runningback Kevin Faulk was also listed as questionable for this weekend with a knee injury and according to the report also missed portions of practice. New England needs all the offensive help they can get so one can only hope that Faulk will be ready to go by game time.
Linebackers Eric Alexander and Matt Chatham were the last two players listed on the injury report and are also questionable for Sunday.
For the first time this season quarterbacks Tom Brady and Jim Miller, who had been listed every week during the regular season as "Probable", were both absent from the injury report.
