Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald reported moments ago that the Patriots have released defensive tackle Marcus Stroud, citing a source.
According to the report Stroud's shoulder had not healed, which is unfortunate news, but good news for some of the other players battling for a job with this football team since they had quite a logjam on the defensive line coming into training camp.
The news also comes a couple of hours after we learned that the team acquired Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth, who they added after sending a 5th round pick to Washington in exchange for the veteran. Β He's still reportedly in need of passing a physical to make the deal official.
