The Patriots cut newly acquired offensive guard Darnell Stapleton. Stapleton was originally signed to add depth to the depleted Patriots line, but it seems that did not work out. The move is an odd one seeing how he was just signed days ago and how the Patriots line is so thin. My guess is he wasn't who they thought he was.
With the release, the Patriots were able to sign running back Thomas Clayton, who had been recently cut by the Patriots. Clayton was a 6th round pick by the 49ers back in 2007.
