According to police, the 25-year-old receiver was arrested just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday for allegedly groping a woman inside a Boston nightclub. During Bill Belichick's Tuesday morning press conference, he would not discuss the incident and Edelman's future with the team.
"I don't think we have enough information to comment on that right now." said Belichick.
Edelman has had a quiet season thus far with three receptions for 25 yards, in a backup role. He has lost playing time with the acquisition of Chad Ochocinco and Aaron Hernandez's emergence as a slot receiver. Edelman's primary role has become the team's kickoff and punt returner.
Office of Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said Edelman is due in Boston Municipal Court Tuesday. When more details are available I will be sure to post an update. Stay tuned.
