It looks like after celebrating Christmas Day Patriots fans may be in for another treat.
The NFL is expected to reveal its 2004 regular-season schedule this week and according to the Boston Herald the Patriots are apparently a prime candidate to play on Christmas. Published reports in Kansas City say the NFL has told the Chiefs to prepare for a night home game on Dec. 25, and New England is one of the Chiefs' nonconference opponents.
With the Christmas game nationally televised, the NFL generally tries to select teams with coast-to-coast appeal. After winning their second championship in three seasons last year after beating the Carolina Panthers back in February, the Patriots have gained quite a bit of national appeal are a definitely a team that are "made for TV".
According to the Metrowest Daily News the Patriots have never played on Christmas in their 44-year history. The team has played on Christmas Eve three times (1989, 1994, 2000) and the day after Christmas three times (1982, 1993, 1999).
