OPENING STATEMENT:<\/b><\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a real strong effort by our team today. \u00a0Really proud of these guys. \u00a0Short week, a tough game with Baltimore Monday night, and [had to] come out here and play against a great organization like the Broncos. \u00a0It was a big challenge for us, but our players did a great job. \u00a0They prepared well and came out and played a physical game, a tough game against a tough team and I thought we deserved to win. \u00a0I thought we made enough plays to win in all three phases of the game. \u00a0Took advantage of our scoring opportunities, turned the ball over on special teams, turned it over on defense and we were able to run the ball, control a little bit of the field position on offense and, you know, 16 points was enough. \u00a0Good solid team win and this team did a good job this week.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On Logan Ryan\u2019s Interception:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cLogan\u2019s turnover was a big one because they had driven the ball from way down, I don\u2019t know, they must have driven it, obviously the length of the field. \u00a0So that was a big turnover because it took points off the board from them in the scoring area and put us at midfield, or however far we ran it back to and then we ended up scoring on that, so that was a big play for us. \u00a0All of the turnovers were big. \u00a0Jon [Jonathan Jones] was there to take advantage of the muffed punt. \u00a0We had some big, kind of chunk plays in the passing game that we were able to move it in some 20-30 yard chunks there that helped us score, or get into field goal range I think on each of those drives. This is a tough team to move the ball against, it\u2019s tough to go out there and convert every third down. We converted a few of them but eventually they get you, so you need some big plays in there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On what he thought of the running game today:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cWe hung with it. \u00a0Again, it\u2019s tough they\u2019re a good run team, good run defense. \u00a0They\u2019re well coached, they\u2019ve got good players. \u00a0We just tried to bang it out. \u00a0It wasn\u2019t a masterpiece, but it was what it needed to be. \u00a0It needed to be a lot of tough yards and that\u2019s what we got today from Dion and LG and those guys up front. \u00a0I mean, we didn\u2019t have a lot of negative plays in the running game, actually not a lot of negative plays, period, for us, which was a lot different than the last time we played out here. \u00a0At least we kept going forwards, or not going backwards, and that\u2019s a good place to start.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On the improved performance by the offensive line from the last time they were here:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cWell, again, we ran the ball well enough to be able to keep running it. \u00a0That was different from other games we\u2019ve seen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On if there was something about Dion Lewis\u2019 skillset that made him the go-to guy in this match-up:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cYeah, we have confidence in all our backs.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On the fact they\u2019ve won their 8th straight AFC East titles and the fact there are guys in the locker room who have never had a chance to do that:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a huge accomplishment. \u00a0It\u2019s a lot of hard work going all the way back to the offseason program, OTAs, training camp, a lot of tough games, won a lot of games on the road, which is always hard to do, this is another one. \u00a0But we still have more we can accomplish and our goals can now be reset. \u00a0But this is the first one, to win the Division and so that\u2019s definitely something to be proud of, something we accomplished. \u00a0But now we can, as I said, we can reset and try to accomplish more this year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On how important it was to generate pressure with just 3 or 4 guys in the defensive game plan:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cYeah, I mean, again, these guys have a very explosive team. \u00a0The receivers, the backs, they can score in a hurry from anywhere, gain a lot of yards in a hurry so it really comes down to good team defense. \u00a0Good rush, good coverage, hitting the receivers, making the quarterback hold the ball a little bit, giving the rush a chance to get there. \u00a0So I thought overall our team defense was pretty good. \u00a0We played well on third down, which was important. \u00a0We got them into third down, which was also important. \u00a0But I think it\u2019s good team defense. \u00a0It\u2019s the rush, it\u2019s the coverage, it\u2019s jamming the receivers, it\u2019s stopping the run, it\u2019s getting off the field on third down, it\u2019s stopping them in the red area, it\u2019s really, it\u2019s all of it. \u00a0Those guys did a good job today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On the execution of the match-ups and if they did anything special with Malcolm Butler against Emmanuel Sanders, etc.:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cSome, yeah. \u00a0Again, we tried to mix it up. \u00a0We didn\u2019t want to just sit there and do one thing against these guys all day. \u00a0I thought Matt [Patricia] and the defensive staff did a good job of keeping it moving, mixing things up a little bit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On the play of the special teams, punt return game:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cI think our specialists did a real good job. \u00a0Snapper, holder, kicker, punter, we got good plays out of all of those. \u00a0We just didn\u2019t really get the return game started like we had hoped to. \u00a0Kickoffs or punt returns, we just looked like [we] a little bit short here or there, missed a guy or just didn\u2019t quite have enough space to get going. \u00a0Hopefully we can break one. \u00a0We work hard on it and we\u2019re close, but we just didn\u2019t have too much to show for it today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n On winning on the road on a day where Brady and Blount don\u2019t have big statistical performances and what it says about the team:<\/b><\/p>\n \u201cWell, number one, I think it starts with the turnovers. \u00a0Not turning the ball over, that\u2019s a good place to start. \u00a0We got three turnovers defensively. \u00a0You look at almost any game in the league and you get that kind of turnover margin, it\u2019s hard to win if you\u2019re on the minus three and hard to lose if you\u2019re on the plus three. So I think that overrides a lot. \u00a0But again, it\u2019s a team game.
