Here’s a rundown as the Patriots held their first joint practice session against the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Absent:\u00a0 Christian Gonzalez, Ben Brown, and Xavier Holmes\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

PUP\/NFI: Harold Landry and Brenden Schooler<\/strong><\/p>\n

Returned: Chad Muma and Kyle Dixon<\/strong><\/p>\n

These next two days of practice are the most important days of the Patriots Training Camp.\u00a0 We are going to tell after these practices where the problems are on the team and whether or not the Patriots are Contenders or Pretenders.\u00a0 We are going to find out if the rookies can play.\u00a0 The Eagles are a very good team and a contender to win the NFC.<\/p>\n

The \u00a0Patriots went out and dominated this joint practice on both sides of the ball.\u00a0 They were able to run the ball, pass at will with good protection.\u00a0 Maye was sharp.\u00a0 5 Interceptions total by the Defense.<\/p>\n

Highlight connection between Drake Maye and A.J. Brown. Maye faced pressure up the middle, and had to throw off his back foot. he would have been killed in a real game.\u00a0 Went deep up the right sideline and still got it over Riq Woolen, and Brown got it over the shoulder before getting both feet in on the sideline. \u2013 Alex Barth<\/p>\n

Looked like Gabe Jacas had a would-be sack on Jalen Hurts.<\/p>\n

Likely a sack in a live-action setting, though. \u2013 Andrew Guindon<\/p>\n

Couple 1-on-1 standouts from OL\/DL:<\/p>\n

– Jacas split his reps with a nice bull rush win over Hinton<\/p>\n

– Lomu nice win vs. Epenesa<\/p>\n

– Milton Williams bull rushed Dickerson\u00a0 – Evan Lazar<\/p>\n

The Patriots offense is dominating and Jaylen Hurts has thrown multiple interceptions.<\/p>\n

Craig Woodson intercepted Jaylen Hurts twice in 7-7. \u00a0\u2013 Savage<\/p>\n

Will Campbell is holding his own here in 11 on 11 \u2013 Brycen<\/p>\n

Jalyx Hunt \u201csacks\u201d Drake Maye and then gets very quick pressure. Beat Will Campbell like a drum on back to back reps. \u2013 Brandon Lee Gowton (Bleeding Green founder) (must have been in 7-7\u2019s.\u00a0 Maye 4-6 in 7\u2019s<\/p>\n

Through three 11v11 periods, Drake Maye is 8-for-8. He\u2019s completed passes to seven different players. \u2013 Mark Daniels<\/p>\n

Top-notch environment w\/ crowd energy (12,000-plus estimate?). \u2013 Mike Reiss<\/p>\n

Lots of pressure from the Patriots’ defense in 11-on-11s. Dre’Mont Jones, Cory Durden, Elijah Ponder, Gabe Jacas all getting into the backfield. \u2013 Doug Kyed<\/p>\n

CB Marcus Jones picked off Jalen Hurts for a pick-six. \u2013 Carlos Lopez<\/p>\n

During initial 11-11\u2019s Drake Maye 3\/3 feat. 20+ yard completion to A.J.Brown<\/p>\n

Blitzes got home to start defensive 2-minute. Lots of pressure.<\/p>\n

5 INTs: Woodson 2, M. Jones, Vildor, Saunders<\/p>\n

Rhamondre Stevenson clear RB1, starting periods and in 2-min.<\/p>\n

Cause for concern? Depth. Philly\u2019s 2s and 3s did well before final 2-minute.<\/p>\n

Maye\u2019s 2-minute drill ended with FG unit rushing on with 12 seconds left, snapping at 0:01. NE run game found room behind Campbell, AVT.<\/p>\n

Pats\u2019 tempo on O strong contrast to PHI. Eagles were slow.<\/p>\n

Run game looked the best it has in camp. Multiple wide running lanes between Will Campbell, Alijah Vera-Tucker<\/p>\n

Pop Douglas, Kyle Williams has catches from Maye.<\/p>\n

Up-tempo snaps! \u2013 Andrew Callahan<\/p>\n

Dominant day for Drake Maye and the top passing attack during field drills. AJ Brown, Kayshon Boutte, Romeo Doubs, and Pop Douglas had one each. Highlight was a fadeaway go ball vs pressure that Brown tracked over his shoulder vs tight coverage<\/p>\n

– Andy Borregales went 4\/5 during a FG period. Hit four straight with a long of 52, but doinked on a make and a miss<\/p>\n

– Clunky one-minute drives for both offenses, but they managed to get into FG range and Borregales made both long attempts<\/p>\n

– Defense won both one-minute drives, with the starters getting multiple sacks and Kindle Vildor picking off Tanner McKee<\/p>\n

– It wasn\u2019t perfect, but the starters opened pretty consistent run lanes for Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson<\/p>\n

– John Saunders\u2019 impressive summer continued with an INT where he seemed to bait Cole Payton<\/p>\n

Really impactful day from Woodson, from my vantage point. Multiple pressures as a blitzer. One \u201csack.\u201d Two picks. And a run-stuff to boot. Second-year safety coming on strong.\u00a0 \u2013 Phil Perry<\/p>\n

One notable area of improvement from last week for the Patriots: Top offense (field goal) and defense (hold) win the final two-minute drill. Second units also win, ending practice on a high note.\u00a0 \u2013 Mike Reiss<\/p>\n

Really good day for the Patriots’ offense. Were able to run on the Eagles in running periods, Maye executed in the pass game, pass protection was pretty good. Executed 2-minute. Can’t take much away from Patriots defense because the Eagles are really rough installing new offense. No Devonta Smith. \u2013 Greg Bedard<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t be out here (Bedard) saying how worried you are about the Patriots without Gonzo and the lack of pass rush against the Eagles like yesterday and then when they get their butts handed to them say you can\u2019t take anything away from the offense. Come on now. \u2013 Pats Pro<\/p>\n

The first-team Eagles offense never got a kick off. Kevin Byard and Christian Elliss had PBUs, and Christian Barmore had a sack to stall the drive. Philly\u2019s second-team saw their last-minute drive halted abruptly by a Kindle Vildor interception of Tanner McKee.<\/p>\n

Patriots ended today\u2019s practice with a decisive wins during the one-minute drill on both sides of the ball. With 1:05 on the clock, both Drake Maye and Tommy DeVito led their units into FG range and Andy Borregales made his kicks. \u2013 Phil Perry<\/p>\n

Jaylen Hurts threw 3 interceptions today vs the Patriots. \u2013 Savage<\/p>\n

Nice finish to practice for Patriots K Andy Borregales. Made two 50-plus yard field goals, including one from ~57 yards. \u2013 Evan Lazar<\/p>\n

Kindle Vildor intercepts the Eagles backups on their 2 minute drive \u2013 Sophie Weller<\/p>\n

Initial thought as Patriots-Eagles practice ends: WR A.J. Brown active (crossers were effective), but 1-handed reception-attempt on initial 1-on-1 rep was missed opportunity to electrify on perfect Drake Maye ball. \u2013 Mike Reiss \u00a0(saw the video and Brown had the DB beat and dropped the very catchable pass \u2013 MM)<\/p>\n

Patriots defense had three sacks in a row to start the Eagles 2-minute drive. Craig Woodson, Kevin Byard and Christian Barmore all got through \u2013 Mark Daniels<\/p>\n

Drake Maye completed 13-straight passes before Romeo Doubs dropped a pass in the 2-minute drill. Maye is 16\/19 today against the Eagles \u2013 Mark Daniels<\/p>\n

During a Patriots field goal period, there was a scuffle after Andy Borregales\u2019 first kick. Jalen Carter threw a punch. Hard to tell who was involved on the other side, but Mike Onwenu and Morgan Moses both had words for Carter. Mike Vrabel quickly jumped into the fray. \u2013 Phil Perry\u00a0 (Frustration on the part of the Eagles as they got their asses handed to them \u2013 MM)<\/p>\n

Marcus Jones gives up a crosser completion to Hollywood Brown, but Christian Barmore was unblocked in the backfield for a would-be sack \u2013 Taylor Kyles<\/p>\n

Maye ends 18-24, by my count. Very good day for the qb against some excellent competition. \u2013 Chris Price<\/p>\n

While the addition of Brown drew the biggest headlines this spring, the Patriots\u2019 big offseason goal was to improve the running game. They feel like they\u2019re going to face more two-high safety looks, and they need to take better advantage of that on the ground. \u2013 Chad Graff The Athletic<\/p>\n

Jared Wilson won both of his 1-on-1 reps against Jalen Carter.\u00a0 On the second rep, Wilson stonewalled Carter on the line of scrimmage and wouldn\u2019t let him get off.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Alijah Vera-Tucker had a bad day, losing both of his 1-on-1 reps, the first to Moro Ojomo and the second to Uah Bernard.\u00a0 If you read my draft projections, I wrote about Bernard as a possible Patriots late-round selection.\u00a0 He is an International Pathways Program player from Nigeria who has never played football.\u00a0 He is a freak athlete with an incredible RAS score (9.90). He is 6\u20194.5\u201d, 306-pounds, runs a 4.63 40, 39\u201d Vertical, 10\u201910\u201d Broad Jump, has 11: Hands and his arm length is 36.75\u201d.<\/p>\n
