Patriots camp Day 7 was a non-scripted practice where the QBs were calling the plays and making the adjustments.\u00a0 Same thing on the Defensive side.<\/p>\n

– Lomu 1-2 with win vs. Ponder<\/strong>, losses to Jones & Q Hutchins <\/strong><\/p>\n

– Swinson initially over Campbell<\/strong> but he tripped and ended on the ground<\/p>\n

– Two good reps for Q Hutchins<\/strong> (Lomu, Bryant<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

– Amari Gainer<\/strong> (Hudson<\/strong>), Joshua Farmer<\/strong> (Brown<\/strong>) with standout reps<\/p>\n

Patriots OG Caedan Wallace<\/strong> is departing the practice field. Spent a good amount of time on the trainers\u2019 table after 1-on-1s.<\/p>\n

Caeden Wallace<\/strong> went 0-2, talked with the trainer, left the field.<\/p>\n

Will Campbell<\/strong> 0-1-1 draw DreMont Jones<\/strong>, lost on inside move by Bradyn Swinson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

RT Caleb Lomu<\/strong> 2-2 again with 2 poor losses<\/p>\n

Mike Onwenu<\/strong> 0-1-1<\/p>\n

Looks like the D-Line got some respect back after getting crushed in the 1st<\/sup> three days in pads.\u00a0 It\u2019s been a tough two practices for Ben Brown<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hell of a play by Christian Elliss<\/strong> to carry DeMario Douglas<\/strong> on a deep crosser and break up a pass from Drake Maye<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 Taylor Kyles<\/em><\/p>\n

Andy Borregales<\/strong> went 5-for-5 during the field goal portion of practice today<\/p>\n

– Sophie Weller<\/em><\/p>\n

WR Kyle Williams<\/strong> just limped off the field with a trainer<\/p>\n

\u2013 Zac Ventola <\/em><\/p>\n

A.J. Brown<\/strong> just left practice. He jogged off the field. Didn\u2019t have a limp or any noticeable injury.<\/p>\n

CB Karon Prunty<\/strong> (fifth round, Wake Forest) runs stride for stride with undrafted free agent WR Cameron Dorner<\/strong> and tracks the deep ball from QB Tommy DeVito<\/strong> for the INT.<\/p>\n

Some good back and forth here. Maye was picked by Dell Pettus<\/strong> after Elijah Ponder<\/strong> came free on a stunt to apply pressure. Maye also hit Pop Douglas<\/strong> on a seam splitter and Kayshon Boutte<\/strong> on a back shoulder.<\/p>\n

Joshua Farmer<\/strong> with a great run stuff on Jam Miller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Theo Diesenhaus<\/em><\/p>\n

Behren Morton<\/strong> on Cameron Dorner<\/strong>: \u201cWhen we got here, we didn\u2019t know each other, but now he\u2019s my guy for life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2013 Alex Barth<\/em><\/p>\n

Look for Morton\/Dorner<\/strong> connection during the pre-season games.\u00a0 Dorner is having a fine Training Camp for a UDFA and would be receiving more notice if the WR room wasn\u2019t so good.\u00a0 He is battling for a Practice Squad spot.\u00a0 \u00a0Dorner was elevated to taking some 2nd<\/sup> team reps today<\/p>\n

Offense, defense draw on most disruptive defensive day yet.<\/p>\n

A.J. Brown<\/strong> 3 catches, and 2 TDs.\u00a0 One was a spinning grab against good coverage by Christian Gonzalez<\/strong>.\u00a0 Brown left early. No sign of injury.\u00a0 Iron sharpening iron.\u00a0 Maye is not afraid of throwing at Gonzalez.<\/p>\n

Fumbles: Doubs, Larison<\/p>\n

Karon Prunty<\/strong> had a PBU in yesterday\u2019s practice as well<\/p>\n

\u2013 Doug Kyed<\/em><\/p>\n

Rookie CB Karon Prunty<\/strong> with one of two interceptions in practice today \u2026 credits his high school WR background for helping track the deep throw by Tommy DeVito<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Romeo Doubs<\/strong> best practice of camp. The $68 million man has seen a slow start to his Patriots\u2019 tenure on the practice fields.\u00a0 Doubs\u2019 did appear to put the football on the ground at one point at the end of a play, but it was on overall positive practice for the 26-year-old.\u00a0 He hauled in all five of his targets to lead all receivers.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Brian Hines<\/em><\/p>\n

In the 7 on 7\u2019s the 1st<\/sup> pass from Maye was to Romeo Doubs<\/strong> sitting against a zone.\u00a0 The last pass in 7s was to Doubs.\u00a0 To start 11-on-11s, Maye\u2019s 1st<\/sup> pass was to Doubs.\u00a0 For the day, he had 5 receptions.<\/p>\n

– Kevin Stone and Nick Cattles <\/em><\/p>\n

Run game struggled again with 6 Run Stuffs<\/p>\n

\u2013 Andrew Callahan<\/em><\/p>\n

Andy Borregales<\/strong> went 5-of-5 on field goal attempts on Saturday. He is 21-of-23 on his attempts through all of training camp.<\/p>\n

UDFA tight end Tanner Arkin<\/strong> took some reps with the first-team offense, catching a pass from Maye during the team period.<\/p>\n

Christian Barmore<\/strong> dominated in 1-on-1s with two big wins over Mike Onwenu and Ben Brown.<\/p>\n

Caeden Wallace<\/strong> left practice early<\/p>\n

\u2013 Sophie Weller<\/em><\/p>\n

Kyle Williams<\/strong> got open downfield but could not connect on a deep bomb from Maye (thrown high), the speedster totaled three catches from Tommy DeVito as he impressively worked through contact to snag a hole shot and comeback route along the sideline.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Brian Hines<\/em><\/p>\n

Efton Chism III<\/strong> got open over the middle of the field on numerous occasions which resulted in two receptions from DeVito, while Chism also saw a pair of manufactured touches (one from Drake Maye).<\/p>\n

\u2013 Brian Hines <\/em><\/p>\n

AJ Brown<\/strong> continues to impress catching all 7 targets for 2 TDs<\/p>\n

Kyle Williams<\/strong> left practice and didn\u2019t return as his camp slump continues<\/p>\n

Maye<\/strong> targets the top 6 wideouts without a single ball hitting the turf<\/p>\n

\u2013 Drake Silver<\/em><\/p>\n

Robert Spillane<\/strong> \u201cThat\u2019s who I am. Without that intensity, there\u2019s no football,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2013 Chris Price<\/em><\/p>\n

On Behren Morton:<\/strong> “I think he\u2019s got a live arm,” head coach Mike Vrabel said. “I think that he learns quickly. I think he\u2019s been able to operate that third group, get those guys going and build a connection with some of the young receivers.”<\/p>\n

– Ethan Hurwitz<\/em><\/p>\n

Around the League <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Buffalo Safety CJ Gardner-Johnson suffered a lower leg injury (probably an Achilles) and had to be carted off the field.\u00a0 This was a non-contact injury.\u00a0 Gardner-Johnson was a Free Agent signee this Spring and was penciled in as their starting Nickel Back.<\/p>\n

49ers WR Ricky Piersall had a knee procedure and will be lost for the year.<\/p>\n

Panthers WR Chris Brazell has a torn LCL and will have surgery.\u00a0 He is out for the year.\u00a0 This is the second player they have lost as OLB Nic Scourton is also lost for the season with a torn ACL.<\/p>\n

Christion Gonzalez Contract Extension<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Head Coach Mike Vrabel was asked about this in this mornings Press Conference before practice.\u00a0 He said \u201cIt will get done.\u00a0 Everybody involved is working hard\u201d.\u00a0 Bert Breer of SI said they are not close and Adam Schefter stated they are a ways away.<\/p>\n

Gonzalez’s agent wants to reset the Cornerback market.\u00a0 They feel the CB contracts are lagging the growth in other positions, like the $40M AAV that DT Jalen Carter just received.\u00a0 Offering just the highest amount ever given (presently $31.1M AAV) isn\u2019t going to cut it.\u00a0 I wonder if they are asking for 4-years at $40M AAV with $120M guaranteed.\u00a0 He has the same agent as Devon Witherspoon, and I believe Gonzalez wants Witherspoon to sign first so that he can top that offer.\u00a0 I commend Gonzalez for going all out and competing at full participation, but if progress isn\u2019t made soon, I might think that Gonzalez will hold-in and stop the full participation.\u00a0 The questions isn\u2019t will Gonzalez be the highest paid but how high they will set the new bar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
