Here’s an overview of what happened during the Patriots’ practice on Sunday, July 26, 2026:<\/p>\n

Patriots Training Camp Day 2 <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Gabe Jacas Officially Signed \u2013 <\/strong>The Patriots put him on the Active\/ Non-Football Injury list.\u00a0 Head coach Mike Vrabel said the team would take a cautious approach. \u2013 Mike Reiss \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Jacas was seen working on the lower field doing conditioning.\u00a0 NFI indicates that Jacas may not have passed his physical.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure Jacas even attempted his conditioning test.<\/p>\n

Absence from Practice \u2013 EDGE Gabe Jacas, WR Jeremiah Webb, FB Reggie Gilliam <\/strong><\/p>\n

PUP \u2013 EDGE Harold Landry, TE CJ Dippre<\/strong><\/p>\n

With\u00a0Morgan<\/strong>\u00a0Moses<\/strong>\u00a0sat out of team drills,\u00a0Caleb<\/strong>\u00a0Lomu<\/strong>\u00a0was the starting right tackle. He again got some jumbo TE snaps where\u00a0Marcus<\/strong>\u00a0Bryant<\/strong>\u00a0would be the RT. Bryant was the second-team LT today, with\u00a0James<\/strong>\u00a0Hudson<\/strong>\u00a0at RT. \u2013 Greg Bedard<\/em><\/p>\n

Kayshon Boutte. <\/strong>Sunday saw him make another leaping and diving grab that ended with his helmet off again (maybe his chin strap should be tightened?). The Patriots are getting him on the field with Brown, so he’s making a bid to stick around and make the receivers’ numbers game very uncomfortable. – Greg Bedard<\/em><\/p>\n

QB Passing<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Drake Maye <\/strong>– 6 of 12<\/p>\n

Tommy DeVito<\/strong> \u2013 6-8 (including a Stevenson drop). A nice bounce-back day for DeVito<\/p>\n

Behren Morton <\/strong>\u2013 5-6. Morton continues to impress.<\/p>\n

Behren Morton<\/strong> has put together back-to-back good practices with the third unit.\u00a0 \u201cMorton\u2019s poise in the pocket has stood out the past two days. Got quick pressure at the top of his drop, stepped up to scramble, then saw his outlet and hit Myles Montgomery underneath.\u201d \u2013 Taylor Kyles, CLNS Media<\/em><\/p>\n

DreMont Jones \u2013 <\/strong>Jones is not a big fan of the Pro Football Focus grading method.\u00a0 Our EDGE group is a lot better than PFF is grading us.\u00a0 Jones also mentioned that he lost to the Patriots twice last year.\u00a0 He was traded at the deadline from Tennessee to Baltimore.\u00a0 Jones played in 18 games last season and didn\u2019t get a bye week.\u00a0 \u00a0“I get a weird flak for not playing the run well because of stupid ass PFF,\u201d Jones smiled in an interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub, adding. \u201cI don\u2019t know what happened. I felt like my first year, it was like, whatever, but the next thing you know, over the last five years, PFF is like Jesus Christ. It\u2019s the bible of football now\u2026 I think we’ve got to go back to the old school ways of watching film and understanding a player’s actual job within a play instead of guessing and assuming what a player does and grading him upon that.\u201d \u2013 Greg Bedard<\/em><\/p>\n

UDFA LB Khalil Jacobs<\/strong> looks noticeably better than LB<\/strong> Nnamdi Obiazor<\/strong> at off-ball linebacker right now, both in the rotation and overall skill level. \u2013 Pete Collins<\/em><\/p>\n

Dell Pettus<\/strong> played the big Nickel position today – Taylor Kyles <\/em><\/p>\n

Backup group of DBs included Kindle Vildor<\/strong> LCB, Charles Woods<\/strong> Slot CB, and Kobee Minor<\/strong> RCB.<\/p>\n

Defense Rules the Day <\/strong><\/h4>\n

How good did the Defense play?\u00a0 They had 9 Run Stuffs in the practice.\u00a0 Milt Williams had a pass knockdown. Christian Gonzalez, John Saunders and Carlton Davis had PBUs. \u00a0\u00a0Christian Elliss was in a great position to make a Tackle for Loss on a swing pass to Rhamondre Stevenson.\u00a0 He gave Stevenson a bump in his chest just to let him know that he would have blown up the play.<\/p>\n

Andy Borregales<\/strong> was 6 for 6 on Field Goals<\/p>\n

Mack Hollins, AJ Brown, <\/strong>and Kyle Williams<\/strong> had their first catches of Training Camp.\u00a0 Hollins was interviewed after practice and stated that he thinks he could play for 10 more years. \u00a0Williams had a nice downfield reception from DeVito against Karon Prunty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Eli Raridon<\/strong> and Tanner Arkin<\/strong> got some plays with the 1st<\/sup> team offense.\u00a0 Raridon had beaten Kevin Byard down the seam, but Maye air-mailed it and overthrew him.<\/p>\n

Comings and Goings \u2013 <\/strong>The Patriots announced late Saturday they claimed WR Koby Prentice<\/strong> off waivers.\u00a0 Prentice, a 2026 UDFA signed with Carolina and was waived on July 24th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The Patriots put in a claim and were awarded Prentice.\u00a0 The speedy WR played three seasons at Alabama and finished at Baylor.\u00a0 At Alabama, as a true freshman in 2022, he started 10 of 13 games. His stat line was 31 receptions for 337 yards, 10.9 YPC, and 2 TDs.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0In 2023, his stats dropped a bit with 13 Games,18 receptions, 314 yards, 17.4 YPC, and 2 TDs.\u00a0 2024, he had an upper body injury that cost him two games and probably affected him all season.\u00a0 His stats dropped in 2024 to 10 games, 11 receptions, 129 yards, 11.7 YPC, and 1 TD.\u00a0 This prompted Prentice to transfer to Baylor, where he flourished. In 2025, he played 11 games for the Bears.\u00a0 Prentice had 26 receptions, 380 yards, 14.62 YPC, and 6 TDs.\u00a0 \u00a0The 5\u20199.4\u201d, 184-pound WR ran a reported 4.37 40-yard dash at his Pro Day.\u00a0 \u00a0He has no Special Teams experience in college, but with his speed, I would expect to see him returning kickoffs.\u00a0 The claim on Prentice may have been precipitated by the injury late in practice to Jeremiah Webb.<\/p>\n

The corresponding move was to waive OT Sebastian Guitierrez<\/strong>.\u00a0 This from Patriots.com – Guitierrez, 28, spent a brief time on the New England practice squad in 2022 and then had two stints on the practice squad during the 2025 season. The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Denver Broncos out of Minot State on May 13, 2022. He has spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts either in training camp or on the practice squad. He was elevated from the practice squad and played in one game for the Raiders in 2022 and one game for the 49ers in 2024. Gutierrez went to training camp in 2025 with San Francisco and Cleveland.<\/p>\n

Jeremiah Webb<\/strong> was added to the Reserve\/ Injury List and will be out for the season.\u00a0\u00a0 Webb signed a three-year contract as a UDFA last season but couldn\u2019t make the 53-man roster.\u00a0 He spent the year on the Practice Squad and signed a Futures Contract after the Super Bowl.\u00a0 This leavse an open roster spot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
