Practice 14<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Monday’s practice was more like a regular season practice where the 1st<\/sup> team Defense and Offense were going up against the scout teams.\u00a0 Both scout teams were using play cards, presumably of the Vikings’ Offense and Defense, in preparation for the two joint practices and pre-season game on Saturday.\u00a0 Not really too much to report since the players were in shorts and shells.<\/p>\n

Absent:<\/strong>\u00a0CB<\/strong> Christian Gonzalez, WR Ja\u2019Lynn Polk, LB Marte Mapu, RB Deneric Prince, CB D.J. James, RB Rhamondre Stevenson, LB Jahlani Tavai, WR Kendrick Bourne, TE Hunter Henry, LB Elijah Ponder, DT Joshua Farmer<\/strong><\/p>\n

Injured During Practice:<\/strong>\u00a0RB<\/strong> Terrell Jennings<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was not a good day for Drake Maye<\/strong>.\u00a0 He went 4-of-10 with three sacks and a delay of game.\u00a0 Head Coach Mike Vrabel was visibly upset with Maye.\u00a0 This is not good after his mediocre play Friday night and in Sunday\u2019s practice.<\/p>\n

In a hurry-up situation, the coaches put 1:30 on the clock, and the ball was spotted on their own 25-yard line for Drake Maye vs. the top defense. They needed just a field goal, but Maye and the offense continued their summer struggles in the hurry-up situation.<\/p>\n

\"K'Lavon<\/p>\n

K\u2019Lavon Chaisson continues to have a good camp. (PHOTO: Eric Canha-Imagn Images)<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A sack by K\u2019Lavon Chaisson<\/strong> on an outside move on Will Campbell<\/strong> and a couple of pass breakups by Marcus Jones<\/strong>.\u00a0 Jones has had a very good camp.\u00a0 On the highlight play by Efton Chism<\/strong> from Sunday, Jones had blanket coverage on Chism, who went up and snatched the ball and took it to the ground.<\/p>\n

Javon Baker<\/strong> continues to shine with a deep pass reception from Joshua Dobbs<\/strong>.\u00a0 Combine the number of practices he is stacking together and his strong play on Special Teams (2 Tackles Friday Night) he is making a strong move to secure a spot on this roster.<\/p>\n

Kyle Dugger<\/strong> has been relegated to the 2nd<\/sup> team Defense, with Craig Woodson taking his spot with the 1st<\/sup> team.<\/p>\n

The Defense wasn\u2019t perfect as they had multiple penalties, including Pass Interference by Alex Austin <\/strong>and Carlton Davis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Andy Borregales had a miss in the live situation.\u00a0 Both of New England\u2019s kickers had a rare off day in their field goal period.\u00a0Working between 33 and 50 yards, Borregales connected on just 2-of-4, while\u00a0John Parker-Romo<\/strong> had his worst day of the summer, making just 1-of-4.<\/span>\u00a0 One of Romo\u2019s misses was due to a bad snap by long snapper Julian Ashby<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Campbell Pre-Season Grade from PFF<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Yeah, I know its pre-season and Campbell played against backup players, but Pro Football Focus does provide grades for the games.\u00a0 Campbell came away with an 85.4 grade.\u00a0 Compared to the best overall grades for 2024, that would have ranked him 7th<\/sup> and equal to Lane Johnson.\u00a0 Now I\u2019m not saying that Campbell is equal to Lane Johnson, but a 72,6 Pass Blocking grade and an outstanding 90.4 Run Blocking grade on just 14 snaps was impressive.\u00a0 He had three pancake blocks in those few plays.<\/p>\n

Today is a travel day before Joint Practices with the Vikings on Wednesday and Thursday.\u00a0 The next pre-season game on Saturday is at 1:00 EST.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
