The Boston Globe reported on Thursday that, barring any unforeseen complications, Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe is expected to be released from Massachusetts General Hospital today after having a chest tube removed yesterday.<\/p>\n

The early timetable has Bledsoe out at least for a couple of weeks, but a chest expert at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center familiar with the procedure Bledsoe had told the newspaper that, “I think you’ll see him playing later this season.”<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the team will start former Michigan standout and 2nd-year quarterback Tom Brady, who will fill in during Bledsoe’s absence.<\/p>\n

MANNING ON BLEDSOE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning saw the hit Bledsoe took on Sunday, and still feels that Bledsoe is one of the toughest quarterbacks he’s been around.<\/p>\n

“Let me say this about Drew,” said Manning during a conference call on Wednesday. “He’s always been one of the toughest quarterbacks around and I’ve always appreciated how he’s always been there for his team.”<\/p>\n

“People ask, well, why didn’t he get out of bounds? Heck, he was trying to win the game for his team. I’ve always admired that about Drew, being a competitor.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
