Day 2 of the East West Shrine game practices<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Let me put these players into perspective, most of the players will be Day Three selections or UDFA signees.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0However, don\u2019t think they can\u2019t play or won\u2019t be any good.\u00a0 Tom Brady played in the East West Shrine game as did Sebastian Vollmer.<\/p>\n

Efton Chism \u2013 WR Eastern Washington<\/strong> \u2013 When you write about a guy two days in a row he must be impressing a lot of people.\u00a0 Steeler Depot has three folks watching the practices and all three commented about how he put together two good days of practice.\u00a0 Joe Clarke says \u201cHe has really reliable hands and is so shifty in space\u201d. \u00a0Melanie Friedlander went on to say \u201c He flashes on every play.\u00a0 A late add to the roster, he has shown that he belongs here.\u00a0 He reminds me of a classic Bill Belichick era Patriots slot receiver.\u00a0 Good burst, quick feet, sharp cuts, and always seems to know where the ball is at all times.\u201d\u00a0 He had a scare at the end of practice with a twisted ankle, but he did not appear to be affected by it. \u00a0\u00a0Chism is 5\u201910\u201d, 195-pounds. \u00a0His estimated 40-yard dash is just 4.57.\u00a0 \u00a0In 2024 his stats line was 120-1311-13 and in 2022 it was 83-937-8.\u00a0 Remember that Eastern Washington gave us Kendrick Bourne and the Rams Cooper Kupp.\u00a0 His 3-cone drill time will be a good indicator if he can play in this league.\u00a0 Cooper Kupp\u2019s 40 was 4.62 but the 3-cone was a very fast 6.75.<\/p>\n

Elijah Roberts \u2013 EDGE- Southern Methodist<\/strong> \u2013 He put another show on today with an assortment of pass rush moves, inside and out.\u00a0 Again, when a name shows up on multiple reports for two straight practices you need to pat attention.\u00a0 Roberts is 6\u20193\u201d 290-pounds and an estimated 4.76 40-yard dash.<\/p>\n

Drew Kendall- OC- Boston College<\/strong> \u2013 Kendall has been one of the best linemen at these practices.\u00a0 The coaches have moved him to OG and he has played very well there.\u00a0 He has the NFL lineage as his father Pete Kendal played 12 years in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Alijah Huzzie \u2013 CB- UNC<\/strong>–\u00a0 He too has put together two good days of practices.\u00a0 The 5\u20199\u201d, 190-pound DB is projected as a Nickel Back because of his size.\u00a0 His projected 4.55 speed might hold him back.\u00a0 Huzzie sustained a knee injury late in practice and is not expected to participate in anymore activities in the East West Shrine game. Hopefully he will be ready for Pro Day workouts.<\/p>\n

Thomas Perry \u2013 OG-Middlebury (VT D3) \u00a0<\/strong>He is making quite the impression here in Texas.\u00a0 Perry has been flawless with his technique, outshining players from higher levels of competition.\u00a0 Perry is supposed to obliterate the weightlifting record when he does his Pro Day.\u00a0 He has short arms and stands just 6\u20192\u201d.\u00a0 I think he will need to move to Center in order to make it.\u00a0 Look for him to go undrafted.\u00a0 Remember what Quinn Meinerz did a few years back, going from a D3 star, to getting drafted by Denver.\u00a0 Meinerz is the #3 ranked Guard in the league per PFF.<\/p>\n

CJ West -NT- Indiana<\/strong> \u2013 At just 6\u2019 and half inch, 311-pounds, he has been all over the place down in Texas this week.\u00a0 Every report I have seen has mentioned West.\u00a0 This is an extremely loaded draft at the Defensive Tackle position, and particularly at Nose Tackle.\u00a0 That is why West will probably last until Day 3.<\/p>\n

Jordan Phillips \u2013 DT \u2013 Maryland<\/strong> – The 6\u20191\u201d 314-pound Nose Tackle has impressed in both practices.\u00a0 He won many one-on – one battles and had a very impressive swim move.\u00a0 His quickness was on display, as he easily got leverage on the blockers.<\/p>\n

Oronde Gadsen \u2013 TE \u2013 Syracuse<\/strong> \u2013 It helps having your college QB throwing you passes but Gadsen is beating up the Linebackers here.\u00a0 He is heads and shoulders above all other TE\u2019s.\u00a0 The 6\u20194\u201d 247-pound receiver is just that, a receiver, not a TE.\u00a0 He doesn\u2019t block but does run a 4.5 40-yard-dash.<\/p>\n

Robert Longerbeam \u2013 CB- Rutgers<\/strong> \u2013 The 5\u201910, 171-pound DB is a little undersized, but he has been showing up in 1-on-1 and 7-on-7 drills.\u00a0 His estimated 40 time is 4.5, which is good for a DB.\u00a0 He had a couple of Pass Breakups and was one of the most consistent players in the secondary over both days.<\/p>\n

Notre Dame TE Mitchell Evans<\/strong> practiced yesterday but was in street clothes today.\u00a0 \u00a0He is another victim of the extended season taking a toll on a player.\u00a0 Let\u2019s hope the Notre Dame and Ohio State players will all be ready for the NFL Combine.<\/p>\n

Dell Pettus an UnDrafted Free Agent Journey<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I have to highlight a great article written by Andrew Guindon for The Patriots Beat.\u00a0 Bottom line is that Dell Pettus beat the odds to make it in the NFL.\u00a0 He was the 2nd<\/sup> highest rated UDFA by PFF with a 73.9 rating.\u00a0\u00a0 That is also the best rating of any rookie Safety in the league.\u00a0 Take the time to read the article here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
