The Patriots apparently got some disappointing news over the weekend, with veteran defensive tackle Christian Barmore’s status for 2024 now in reportedly in question.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the veteran was diagnosed with blood clots and was being treated at Mass General Hospital, which comes days after he left practice and hasn’t been seen since.<\/p>\n

Schefter reported the news late Sunday, with the team also issuing a statement regarding Barmore’s status.Dan Eu<\/p>\n

“Over the weekend, Christian Barmore was diagnosed with blood clots.\u00a0 He was appropriately treated by the doctors at Mass General Brigham, who tested, evaluated and treated Christian.”<\/p>\n

“Our principal concern at this time is Christian’s health and wellbeing.\u00a0 Fortunately, Mass General Brigham provides some of the best healthcare in the world.”<\/p>\n

“While there is no current timetable for his return, we know Christian is getting tremendous care and we look forward to his full recovery.”<\/p>\n

Barmore battled through knee and shoulder injuries for much of last season, with the defensive tackle appearing on the injury report after injuring his knee in Week Two against the Dolphins.\u00a0 He was listed as “limited” from that point forward<\/strong><\/a>, with Barmore also dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 13.<\/p>\n

He missed just one practice leading up to their match-up against the Chiefs, but ended up being active for that game and played 42\/65 snaps (65%).<\/p>\n

How this will affect things moving forward is now the other question the club will need to answer.\u00a0 The Patriots did get Daniel Ekuale back after a promising preseason in 2023, with Ekuale missing the year after suffering a torn biceps in Week 3, so he should get an opportunity for a bigger role in Barmore’s absence.<\/p>\n

The Patriots are also in the middle of a contract standoff with Davon Godchaux, and this news likely provides some additional urgency for the two sides to potentially reach an agreement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
