{"id":54275,"date":"2024-06-20T16:31:55","date_gmt":"2024-06-20T20:31:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.patsfans.com\/patriots\/blog\/?p=54275"},"modified":"2024-06-20T16:43:56","modified_gmt":"2024-06-20T20:43:56","slug":"patriots-finally-reach-agreement-with-stevenson-on-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patsfans.com\/patriots\/blog\/2024\/06\/20\/patriots-finally-reach-agreement-with-stevenson-on-extension\/","title":{"rendered":"Patriots Finally Reach Agreement with Stevenson on Extension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rhamondre Stevenson recently said he and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patsfans.com\" title=\"New England Patriots at PatsFans.com\"><strong>New England Patriots<\/strong><\/a> were close on a new deal, and Thursday saw the two sides finally come to an agreement.<\/p>\n<p>According to ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter, Stevenson and the Patriots have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth up to $36 million, which includes $17 million in guaranteed money.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Patriots and RB Rhamondre Stevenson reached agreement on a four-year extension for $36 million, including $17M fully guaranteed, per source.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1803869506097307743?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 20, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Stevenson has certainly impressed since the club <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patsfans.com\/patriots\/blog\/2021\/05\/03\/which-players-did-the-patriots-draft-some-thoughts-on-all-the-2021-selections\/\"><strong>drafted him in the fourth round<\/strong><\/a> back in 2021.\u00a0 The former standout from Oklahoma made noise during his rookie season, but brokeout in his sophomore season, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patsfans.com\/new-england-patriots\/stats\/2022\/\"><strong>rushing for 1,040 yards on 210 carries along with five touchdowns<\/strong><\/a> that year.<\/p>\n<p>That performance clearly impressed the coaching staff to the point where they were comfortable to let former Patriots running back Damien Harris leave last offseason, with Stevenson emerging as the club\u2019s starter.<\/p>\n<p>He finished last season with a 156 carry, 619-yards, and four touchdown performance before the ankle injury he suffered late in the year saw him miss time over the final month of the season before he ultimately ended up on injured reserve.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, that injury seems to be behind him. Stevenson is now focused on having a big year, spending this offseason seemingly slimming down.\u00a0 Several reports said Stevenson looked lighter, but the veteran said he\u2019s actually the same weight as he\u2019s been.\u00a0 Instead, he claimed he\u2019s simply been eating better, and it helped him lower his body fat while getting to a \u201cbetter weight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said last week the goal was to make sure \u201cmy body\u2019s ready for the whole season.\u201d He sounded hopeful that a new contract would \u00a0come before camp began.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot frustrating. It\u2019s just a long process,\u201d said Stevenson.\u00a0 \u201cThis is how the process goes. First time going through it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, after today, he\u2019s likely pleased with the results. \u00a0Not to mention the fact that the Patriots now have one of their best offenses
