Here’s what New England Patriots<\/strong><\/a> running back Rhamondre Stevenson had to say to reporters during his press conference on June 10, 2024.<\/p>\n

On after he Jerod Mayo said he’s lost weight, if it was by design and if he was looking to get a little leaner:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yeah, I wouldn’t say I lost weight. I still wear the same amount, but just better weight. Got my body fat down, things like that. So yeah, just better weight.”<\/p>\n

On how he did it:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Just a little stricter diet. Nothing too crazy, just a little stricter diet.”<\/p>\n

On why it was important for him to do it this offseason: <\/strong><\/p>\n

“Just to make sure my body’s ready for the whole season. It’s a long season. I’ve seen what that could get like, so I tried to prepare myself.”<\/p>\n

On the fact he’s in the last year of his deal:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yeah, it’s the last year of your deal.\u00a0 It’s obvious. It’s something you got to think about. But right now, I’m just trying to get the deal done right now and get it locked in with the extension. So we see where that goes.”<\/p>\n

[Inaudible] On the discussions:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yeah, it’s pretty close.”<\/p>\n

On if it’s been frustrating at all seeing other guys getting contracts:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Not frustrating. It’s just a long process. This is how the process goes. First time going through it. But just hearing from all the other guys, this is how it goes. It’s just a negotiation process, things like that. But just respecting the process.”<\/p>\n

On if he feels like the running back market improved this offseason:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I would say I think some contracts helped me out a little bit, but we’ll see where it goes, man. We’ll just see.”<\/p>\n

On if he wants to give them his comps:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“No, I got to… ”<\/p>\n

[Inaudible]<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yeah, that looked great.”<\/p>\n

On how he adopted this strict diet.\u00a0 Any examples of something that he made, like a different change in his diet:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I’ll give you one. Just not eating super late at night, less snacking, things like that.<\/p>\n

On if he’s talked to his teammates after several got big extensions like Hunter Henry, about how to deal with this:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“They just told me not to let it really affect me or not let anything really get to me. Just respect the process, control what I can control. God got me in the end, so I’m not really worried about it too much.”<\/p>\n

On if it’s still hard, though:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Definitely.\u00a0 Yeah, it’s hard not to think about it. This is our career and our life, our future. So it’s hard not to think about, but just staying disciplined, just coming out here working every day. And as long as you do that, everything else should come with it.”<\/p>\n

[Inaudible – thoughts on the new offense?]<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It’s different. It’s a lot different, but we all just got to make that change and get used to it and be successful with it.<\/p>\n

On if he’s in favor of the change:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I’m not really with it or against it. It’s just another change we got to adapt to.”<\/p>\n

On if he’ll ever return a kick again:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Right. There’s a lot of people, but if they need me to do it, I’ll get back there and do it.<\/p>\n

Contract Year:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Exactly. The more you can do, baby.”<\/p>\n

On the fact this offense has led to the success of running backs and what about this offense, in his view, leads to that success:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“For me, I just turned on, honestly, Nick Chubbs’ highlights and just seeing him running all throughout defenses with it. The linemen are on the right courses. Everything looks well put together and everybody’s working together. So I hope we could get that done this year.”<\/p>\n

On if that’s come after him pulling up YouTube one night to see what he could find or how that happened:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yeah, honestly, it’s been more than one time. I’ve just been looking at Cleveland’s offense and just seeing what they are trying to get done and see how AVP wants things ran.”<\/p>\n

On if he likes what he’s seen so far:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Yeah, right now it seems very good. He’s explaining it well. We know what we need to do. My boy AG in there helping me learn the plays. We’re just helping each other out in there. But yeah, it’s looking good so far.”<\/p>\n

On how this offense compares to the one that was here when he started here in terms of ease of younger players picking it up:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I mean, it’s all just a learning curve for everybody. When you’re coming in, everything’s going to be different. So my rookie year was totally different from anything I’m doing now. But I feel like AVP makes everything kind of translate to one another. So it’s not too hard to pick up. Just a little learning curve.”<\/p>\n

On the biggest difference he’s seen in Drake [Maye] in the first week:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“He knows what he’s doing now. No, he just came in. Like I said, it’s a learning curve for everybody coming in as a rookie. It’s tough to learn, especially coming from colleges. A lot of them, they’re not really calling players and things like that in the huddle. I think he’s getting used to it, and it’s just chipping wood day by day.”<\/p>\n

On if there’s any difference in the locker room, aside from, ‘he knows the system:’<\/strong><\/p>\n

“No, it’s just straight football for him right now, I think. Just trying to learn everything.”<\/p>\n

On when it comes to his contract negotiations, how often he asks his agent for updates:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“When something big happens, I want to know. But other than that, I like just my agent and the front office just handling it until something big comes.”<\/p>\n
