Games with Names<\/em> with Julian Edelman recently<\/strong><\/a>, giving some terrific insight on some past Patriots moments during his interview.<\/p>\nAdams brought up some unique memories, where he often made observations of opponents ahead of various match-ups.<\/p>\n
One of those happened to come against the Titans during the Patriots 2009 season, which resulted in a 59-0 blowout win at the snow at Gillette Stadium<\/p>\n
Adams said before the game even started that he could tell Tennessee was in trouble, just based on seeing what cleats they were wearing.<\/p>\n
As a result, Adams took that advantage and put it to good use.\u00a0 He went and had a talk with then grounds keeper, John Bengston, which set the stage on what turned out to be a big afternoon for his football team.<\/p>\n
“What you want to wear on a snowy turf field is seven stud grass cleats, and in pregame, I can see that the Titans, they’re going to try to play the game in their molded soles, I knew they were in trouble,” said Adams.\u00a0 “So I went and found John Bengtson, the grounds guy, I said, ‘John, [be] really slow getting the snow off, just take your time.’\u00a0 I think they had one guy at halftime with a shovel out cleaning off the goal line. We wanted as much snow [as possible.]”<\/p>\n
“You could see their linebackers before the play, they’re trying to kick the snow off their cleats.\u00a0 They had no chance.”<\/p>\n
Tom Brady certainly had a big game that day, missing just five passes as he completed 29-of-34 for 380 yards and six touchdowns, with the club scoring a franchise-record 35 points in the second quarter.<\/p>\n
Brady also set a record at the time by becoming the first quarterback to throw five touchdowns in a quarter.<\/p>\n
Ah … memories.<\/p>\n
Adams also hit on some other key moments, including that he felt the Patriots likely wouldn’t have won that first Super Bowl had they not played the Rams once previously during that same season, along with some more great intel during what was an over two hour interview with Edelman.<\/p>\n
