With both Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels being potential targets for the\u00a0New England Patriots<\/strong><\/a>, both guys sounded pretty excited to possibly be the next QB up here in New England.<\/p>\n

The two met with the media this week and each talked about the possibility, with Daniels giving his thoughts Friday morning as he spoke to reporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, it would be dope,\u201d Daniels\u00a0said via CBS\u2019s Michael Hurley<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0when asked about his thoughts about potentially landing with the Patriots. \u201cObviously, growing up and seeing what Tom Brady did there, six Super Bowls, that\u2019s tough to live up to. But it would be dope to come in there and see the success they had and help them get back on that track.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maye echoed those sentiments when he was asked about potentially playing at Gillette Stadium for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

\u201cShoot, New England. I mean, it\u2019s hard not to talk about the dynasty. You know, the great, you think of the GOAT. That\u2019s what you think of. When you think of New England, you think of the GOAT, Tom Brady,\u201d Maye said. \u201cSo, just a place that\u2019s had a lot of success. They\u2019ve had some years lately that haven\u2019t been as successful and looking to get back on track.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both players have already met with the Patriots as the club continues doing its due diligence ahead of the draft.\u00a0 They\u2019ve also reportedly met with Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, and J.J. McCarthy.<\/p>\n

The key question is going to ultimately be who is available when the Patriots make their selection.\u00a0 There continue to be rumblings of Chicago pondering a trade of the #1 overall pick, which could affect who ends up being taken in that spot.<\/p>\n

While Williams is the consensus pick among quite a few people when it comes to this year\u2019s draft, it also doesn\u2019t sound like he\u2019s necessarily a lock to be taken there.<\/p>\n

In Phil Perry\u2019s\u00a0most recent\u00a0Next Pats Podcast<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, Perry pointed out that Williams doesn\u2019t seem to be everyone\u2019s top choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaleb Williams is not everyone\u2019s number one quarterback, which surprises me a little bit,\u201d said Perry.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s not even something that you hear from evaluators that he is the most far and away, most talented, no questions asked, and it\u2019s just the off-the-field stuff that we have concerns with. No, there are football reasons as to why Caleb Williams might not be every scout, every coach\u2019s favorite quarterback in this year\u2019s draft class.\u00a0 I found that interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perry also added that, should the Bears hold on to their selection and make a pick in the top spot, seeing Williams go to Chicago isn\u2019t a guarantee and that the interviews with teams this week will likely carry a lot of weight in terms of how he\u2019s viewed heading into the draft.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bears, after having spoken to someone in Chicago, are not dead set on taking Caleb Williams,\u201d said Perry.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s not a guarantee.\u00a0 It is not locked in, and this week will matter for him.\u201d<\/p>\n
