Obviously, it\u2019s been a rough couple of weeks for New England Patriots<\/strong><\/a> quarterback Mac Jones, who it appears has seen some of his recent troubles extend onto the practice field.<\/p>\n

According to The MMQB\u2019s Albert Breer, Jones has apparently been having moments in practice against his own defense that were red flags, which is starting to cause guys around him to lose confidence.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels to me like a team that knows it doesn\u2019t have a chance. A team that somewhere in the back of its head knows that no matter how well it plays, it doesn\u2019t have the horses to win,\u201d said Breer<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cAnd no matter how well its quarterback plays, he doesn\u2019t have the juice to be able to pull up everybody around him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is something that showed up in practice. What we saw against Dallas, what we saw against New Orleans, has shown up from Mac Jones in practice to the point where defensive players have called it out in practice and said, \u2018You can\u2019t do that, that\u2019s going to get picked off, that\u2019s going to create a turnover.\u2019 And the fact it\u2019s happening in games is a problem and it\u2019s going to cause the team to lose confidence in its quarterback.\u201d<\/p>\n

Breer went on to explain that there’s a lack of confidence in Jones internally, which will likely see the coming weeks determine his future here in New England.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t sense a lot of internal confidence in Mac Jones right now. The way I look at it, they have 12 games left to figure out whether or not he\u2019s the quarterback of the future. So they better do what they can to try to get his confidence back to the point where they can get a clear read on who he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

If true, that\u2019s certainly not great news. Obviously, Jones has regressed dramatically compared to the first three weeks of the season, and the fact that this appears to be happening against his own defense is concerning, especially given how bad things have been the last two weeks.<\/p>\n
