Patriots vs Colts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Frank Reich is a good head coach.\u00a0 Since Andrew Luck got hurt and missed the entire 2017 season, Reich has been playing from behind.\u00a0 Who had any idea the surgery and rehab were botched and Luck would announce his retirement in camp?\u00a0 Luck endured through the 2018 season and played well enough to make the Pro Bowl, but he shocked everyone when he retired in camp in 2019.\u00a0 In March 2020 the Colts signed Phillip Rivers as a stopgap measure. \u00a0The last 5 QB\u2019s have been; They obtained under-utilized Zach Moss in the trade with Buffalo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At Wide Receiver the Colts are led by Michael Pittman Jr., the third-year WR out of USC.\u00a0 He was drafted by the Colts in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> round of the 2020 draft.\u00a0 His father Michael Sr. played running back for the 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs Super Bowl Champions.\u00a0 He had 88 catches for 1082 yards and 7 TDs last year and so far this season he is 51 catches on 70 targets for 528 yards and a 10.4 YPC.\u00a0 But only 1 TD at the roughly halfway mark.\u00a0 \u00a0Next up is Paris Campbell, a 6\u2019 208 lbs wideout that played for Ohio State, and was a 2<sup>nd<\/sup> round pick in 2019.\u00a0 He has 30 catches in 40 targets for 282 yards, a 9.4 YPC, and 2 TDs.\u00a0\u00a0 He is sometimes omitted from the game plan either by design or great coverage by the opponent.\u00a0 The Colts have found a rookie to complement these two up-and-coming stars.\u00a0 Alex Pierce is 6\u20193\u201d, and 211 lbs.\u00a0 The Cincinnati alum was a 2<sup>nd<\/sup> round pick in 2022.\u00a0 That\u2019s three 2<sup>nd<\/sup> round Wide Receivers.\u00a0 Pierce is 2<sup>nd<\/sup> on the team with 24 catches on 38 targets, 373 yards, a 15.5 YPC, and 1TD.\u00a0 Pierce and Pittman have both missed a game.\u00a0 The Colts are going to miss the 25 catches Hines had out of the backfield.\u00a0\u00a0 Looks like Zach Moss (acquired as part of the Hines trade) will fill that role.<\/p>\n<p>The Colts have 3 quality players at TE in Kylen Granson, Mo-Alie Cox, and Jelani Woods.\u00a0 Granson is in his second season after being drafted in the 4<sup>th<\/sup> round in 2021 out of SMU.\u00a0 He has 20 catches on 26 targets, 176 yards, 8.8 YPC, and 0TDs.\u00a0 He is a little small at 6\u20191.5\u201d and 241 lbs.\u00a0 Mo-Alie Cox is in his 6<sup>th<\/sup> season after coming out as an Undrafted Free Agent in 2017.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t play football in college, he was a basketball player.\u00a0 The Colts saw enough in him to sign him.\u00a0 The 6\u20195\u201d 267 lbs TE hadn\u2019t played football since his freshman year of High School.\u00a0 He struggled to make the Colts&#8217; roster through injury and waivers he finally made it in October 2018.\u00a0 Last year Cox was given a 2<sup>nd<\/sup> round tender for a Restricted Free Agent.\u00a0 This year he signed a 3-year $18M contract.\u00a0 He has 11 catches on 16 targets, for 136 yards and 12.3 YPC, 2 TDs.\u00a0 Jelani Woods is a player that caught my eye and all the scouts during the East-West Shrine Bowl.\u00a0 At 6\u20197\u201d, 252 LBs, he sticks out.\u00a0 At the combine, he ran 4.61 which got him drafted in the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> round by the Colts this year. In limited opportunities, he has 6 catches on 10 targets for 77 12.8 and 3 TDs.\u00a0 He is a big Red Zone target.\u00a0 Woods played three seasons at Oklahoma State, converting from QB to TE.\u00a0 After his third year, he transferred to Virginia Tech for one season.\u00a0 His first two catches in the NFL were for TDs against KC in week 3.<\/p>\n<p>The O-line is good but not as good as it was just two years ago.\u00a0 Quenton Nelson is still there.\u00a0 The 2018 1st-round\u00a0pick, number 6 overall) goes into his 5<sup>th<\/sup> season and is established as one of the best OG in the league.\u00a0 Nelson is just 26.\u00a0\u00a0 The 6\u20195\u201d 330 LB bulldozer out of Notre Dame is a 3-time 1<sup>st<\/sup> team All-Pro, a Second Team All-Pro, and 4 Time Pro-Bowler.\u00a0 Left Tackle is manned by Dennis Kelly, a 6\u20198\u201d 328 LB journeyman OT.\u00a0 Kelly has been a career backup over his 11 NFL seasons.\u00a0 The 32 yo was a 5<sup>th<\/sup> Rd draft pick of PHI in 2012.\u00a0 Kelly played for PHI, TEN, GB, and IND.\u00a0 Ryan Kelly is at the Center.\u00a0 He was drafted in the 1<sup>st<\/sup> round by the Colts in 2016.\u00a0 The former Alabama Crimson Tide alum is the anchor for the line at 6\u20194\u201d and 311 LBs.\u00a0\u00a0 He was a second-team All-Pro in 2020 and twice nominated for the Pro Bowl.\u00a0 He had these incredible stats at Alabama.\u00a0\u00a0 As a Junior, he missed only 7 assignments on 802 snaps for a 99.1 success rate.\u00a0 As a senior, he was even better with 8 blown assignments in 1,012 snaps for a 99.2 success rate.\u00a0 In all those snaps, he was called for one penalty and no holding penalties.\u00a0 Matt Pryor was drafted by the Eagles in the 6<sup>th<\/sup> round of the 2018 draft.\u00a0 The 6\u20197\u201d 332 LB RG has started only 6 times prior to this year.\u00a0 The TCU grad has started all 8 games and is more of an OT than a guard.\u00a0 Braden Smith mans the Right Tackle position.\u00a0 The 2018 2<sup>nd<\/sup> round selection out of Auburn stands 6\u2019 6\u201d and 315 LBs.\u00a0\u00a0 He has played in 58 games and started in 56 of those.<\/p>\n<p>The Colts want to establish the run so they can use play-action passing down the field.\u00a0 It is imperative the Patriots stop the run against the Colts.\u00a0 Matt Judon should be able to continue wreaking havoc on both tackles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFENSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4-3 Base<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Overall the Defense is ranked #14.\u00a0 The Patriots are ranked #7.\u00a0 The Colts can stop the run but didn\u2019t in the month of October.\u00a0 Having Shaquille Leonard back will help.\u00a0 Remember it took a near-miraculous catch by Terry Mclaurin to beat them last week.<\/p>\n<p>According to Warren Sharp, there are few players as disruptive as DeForest Buckner.\u00a0 Bill Belichick was singing his praise in press conferences this week as well, stating that he thinks Buckner is a top 4 DT in the league.\u00a0 He will give our interior line fits.\u00a0 He has 21 tackles and 4 sacks.\u00a0 Look for him to line up against Cole Strange for a huge mismatch.\u00a0 Hopefully, David Andrews will be back.\u00a0 Also, Isaiah Wynn has been practicing at LG this week.\u00a0 He replaced Strange during the Jets game.\u00a0 That was perhaps Strange\u2019s worst game of the year.\u00a0 Grover Stewart is the other DT and he is no slouch either.\u00a0 He leads the D-line in tackles with 43 and has 2 sacks.\u00a0 Kitty Paye is listed as questionable but I expect him to start at LDE.\u00a0 The former 1st Round selection #21 overall in 2021 out of Michigan checks in with 16 tackles and 3 sacks.\u00a0He hails from Rhode Island and played at Bishop Hendrickson HS.\u00a0 Yannick Ngakoue can apply pressure as well with 16 tackles and 4 sacks.\u00a0 Old friend Byron Cowart is a reserve DT for Indy.<\/p>\n<p>The Linebacker corp is strong with Zaire Franklin leading the team with 81 tackles.
