Combine Day 3 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Biggest Surprise <\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan Davis DT Georgia \u2013 Everyone knows Jordan Davis.\u00a0 How can you not notice him, he is 6\u20196\u201d 351 lbs.\u00a0 NFL Network opens the coverage by showing the glamour event, the 40-yard dash.\u00a0 Davis is the 4th<\/sup> player to run the 40 and he blows the roof off Lucas oil stadium.\u00a0 The Big Man ran a 4.82 timed by NFL Network.\u00a0 Twitter blew up over that performance.\u00a0 The official time came back even faster at 4.78.\u00a0 Most analysts questioned whether Davis could be an every-down player.\u00a0 He answered that question.<\/p>\n

Winners<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jordan Davis- Davis stands 6\u20196\u201d and weighed 341 lbs down from 351 during the season.\u00a0 His 40 time was second to teammate Devonte Wyatt at 4.78.\u00a0 He was 1st<\/sup> in the Broad Jump (explosiveness) at 10\u2019 3\u201d and 2nd<\/sup> in Vertical Jump at 32\u201d. \u00a0enough said<\/p>\n

Devonte Wyatt DL Georgia \u2013 How did anyone score on Georgia?\u00a0 Wyatt stands 6\u20193\u201d 304 and ran 4.77 (1).\u00a0 Some scouts feel Wyatt will be a better pro than Davis.<\/p>\n

Travis Jones DT UConn \u2013 He is a player that I think will be on the Patriots’ radar.\u00a0 Jones is pure Nose Tackle and had a great week at the Senior Bowl.\u00a0 He walked opposing Centers right back into the feet of the QBs, collapsing the pocket.\u00a0 At 6\u20194\u201d 325 lbs and has 34\u201d arms, he ran a 4.92 40.\u00a0 He also did a great 7.33 3-cone drill which was tied for #1.<\/p>\n

Thomas Booker DT Stanford \u2013 This is a name that came out of nowhere for me.\u00a0 His 4.92 40 and 7.33 3- Cone (tied with Jones) made me take notice.\u00a0 He is 6\u20193\u201d 301 lbs and would be an interior lineman.\u00a0 Booker\u2019s Broad Jump was 9\u20192\u201d (4th<\/sup>) and his Sort Shuttle (20 yards) was 4.41, 1st<\/sup> among DTs.\u00a0 He is one of those players the scouts will go back and re-look at the game tapes.<\/p>\n

Travon Walker DL Georgia 6\u20195\u201d 272 and posted a 4.51-second 40-yard dash, a 35 1\/2-inch vertical, a 10-foot-3 broad jump, and an elite 6.89-second three-cone drill. We knew he would test well and Walker didn\u2019t disappoint<\/p>\n

Troy Andersen LB Montana St \u2013 6\u20193\u201d 243 lbs ran a 4.42 40, 36\u201d Vert and 10\u2019 8\u201d Broad Jump.\u00a0 He looked good in the field drills, especially those that mimic covering backs and TEs.\u00a0 \u00a0He only has 2 years playing LB.\u00a0 In his 1st<\/sup> two years at Montana St, he was a QB and in one year ran for 1400 yards and 21 TDs and 1st team All-Conference.\u00a0 SB Nations Keegan Steifel said that Andersen was the Patriots’ gain because he has that positional versatility Bill Belichick covets.<\/p>\n

Leo Chenal LB Wisconsin \u2013 Chenal checked in at 6\u20193\u201d 250 lbs and was able to run a running back like 4.53.\u00a0 He made himself some money on Saturday.\u00a0 Both Andersen and Chenal were players I highlighted that needed a big combine.\u00a0 Both delivered in a big way.<\/p>\n

Losers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Devin Lloyd LB Utah \u2013 Ran a 4.77 unofficial 40 reduced to 4.66 official.\u00a0 That\u2019s not bad but not what was expected.\u00a0 Lloyd is a little smaller than Patriots Kyle Dugger!\u00a0 Lloyd\u2019s fieldwork was shoddy as well.\u00a0 \u00a0He has great production at Utah and game tapes.\u00a0 he will not drop past the 2nd round.<\/p>\n

Myjai Sanders Edge Cincinnati \u2013 Dropped 30 lbs for the Combine.\u00a0 At 228 lbs he is no longer an Edge player but an outside linebacker with no experience playing that position.\u00a0 He did run a 4.67 40.\u00a0 At that weight, he couldn\u2019t possibly hold the edge.<\/p>\n

Jo Jo Dormann\u00a0 LB Nebraska \u2013 He is not a linebacker but a big safety.\u00a0 He looked lost doing the field drills.<\/p>\n

Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n

A follow-up to the issue brought up about the 40 timing.\u00a0 The combine used a new starter on the laser clock this year, which was the reason given for the wider discrepancies between the official and unofficial times. It is yet to be seen if this issue will be fixed for the remaining three days of testing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
