After three years on the ballot, in year four, former New England Patriots<\/strong><\/a> defensive end Richard Seymour is, at last, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

Seymour’s Pro Football Hall of Fame selection was revealed during the NFL Honors Ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The sixth overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft out of the University of Georgia, Seymour played for the Patriots in his first eight seasons, contributing to four runs to the Super Bowl and three championships.<\/p>\n

In 2009, Seymour was traded to the Oakland Raiders where he completed his NFL career three years later.<\/p>\n

Over his career, Seymour logged 496 total tackles, 57.5 sacks, seven Pro Bowl selections, three first-team All-Pro honors, and was named a member of the Patriots’ 50th Anniversary Team, Patriots All 2000\u2019s Team, and the NFL\u2019s All 2000\u2019s Team. This past October, Seymour was formally inducted<\/a> into the Patriots Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

Seymour joins OL Tony Boselli, WR Cliff Branch, DB LeRoy Butler, LB Sam Mills, DL Bryant Young, Coach Dick Vermeil, and Referee Art McNally in the Hall’s Class of 2022.<\/p>\n

The selection of Seymour to the Pro Football Hall of Fame makes him the tenth player to be associated with the Patriots franchise to earn the league’s greatest individual honor and the first since Ty Law’s induction in 2019.<\/p>\n
