Some Patriots thoughts on this Tuesday:<\/p>\n
1) This year has been bizarre from the start.\u00a0 I\u2019m not just talking about football.\u00a0 But it has been bizarre for a fanbase that has expected to win every year.\u00a0 We were spoiled.\u00a0 We had Tom Brady in his prime.\u00a0 There were terrific veterans with a sprinkle of rookies and Un-Drafted Free Agents.\u00a0 It was easy to be a Patriots fan.<\/p>\n
Now It\u2019s hard, we will find out who are the true Patriots fans from the Band Wagon fans.\u00a0 They now know the suffering we the long term fans have had as the laughing stock of the league.\u00a0 This is how many of the other franchise in the league feel.<\/p>\n
2) Cam Newton has been an embarrassment as a starting QB.\u00a0 We know why no one signed him, he can\u2019t play anymore. \u00a0Several times the Dolphins went to the \u201czero\u201d defensive alignment, loading the box with 9 players and 2 CB\u2019s, no safeties.\u00a0 Did Newton ever make an adjustment and take advantage of that?\u00a0 \u00a0He makes too many mistakes reading defense, has absolutely awful mechanics, can\u2019t throw a short pass.\u00a0 His windup to throw the ball is like a MLB pitcher, it is so long he takes forever to release the pass.\u00a0 Everything is a bullet and he has no touch on his passes.\u00a0 Hopefully Belichick will make the switch and give Stidham the start.\u00a0 Lets find out if he has anything to salvage.<\/p>\n
3) I think the Patriots have wasted the final season of James White in a Patriots uniform.\u00a0 \u00a0White is an Un-restricted Free Agent at the end of the year.\u00a0 The Patriots have been very stingy about paying RB\u2019s.\u00a0 White is in my opinion the best receiving back in the league.\u00a0 He is great at picking up the blitz and I will be sad to see him go.\u00a0 He is another victim of the poor play by Newton.<\/p>\n
4) The wide receivers have taken a lot of arrows for being the worst receiving group in the league.\u00a0 Not Sunday in Miami.\u00a0 Jakobi Meyers had another 6 catches.\u00a0 He had the big fumble and all the receivers were told to expect the Dolphins to try and strip the ball.\u00a0\u00a0 Devin Asiasi should have had an easy catch but the rifleman Cam Newton fired a fastball high and off his hands.\u00a0 Dalton Keene had a TD if Newton threw the ball correctly as did Damiere Byrd.\u00a0\u00a0 The TE\u2019s were open but Newton never looked for them.<\/p>\n
5) On defense, the Patriots were run all over.\u00a0 Too many young players.\u00a0 Our edge players are not big enough to hold the edge.\u00a0 Winowich and Uche are strictly pass rushing specialist.\u00a0 Afernee Jennings just doesn\u2019t get it yet as a MLB.\u00a0 When Ja\u2019Whun Bentley went down UDFA Terez Hall had to fill in.\u00a0 He was okay but made too many tackles downfield.\u00a0 Why didn\u2019t the defensive coaches make an adjustment and load the box?<\/p>\n
6) Gilmore is gone for the year.\u00a0 His injury is not as serious as it could have been.\u00a0 A torn quad.\u00a0 J.C. Jackson will get the top receiver and we will see if he is truly an elite DB in the league.\u00a0 He is a Restricted Free Agent that should get a big deal from the Patriots.<\/p>\n
7) Don\u2019t activate Edeleman.\u00a0 He adds nothing to the team this season.\u00a0 Get healthy and see if he can contribute next year.\u00a0 Let\u2019s find out if Gunner Olszewski can add anything as a slot receiver.<\/p>\n
8) That Jets game is lining up to be quite interesting (not).\u00a0 The Jets want to lose to get Trevor Lawrence.\u00a0 The Pats don\u2019t want Lawrence in the division and should let the Jets win!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
