Cam Newton found out that he had been tested positive for the COVID-19, coronavirus, and will be quarantined for the immediate next few days at least while other tests are administered.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But a Chiefs practice squad player has also tested positive and now the game will be postponed until at least Monday or Tuesday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Late last night, we received notice that a Patriots player tested positive for COVID-19. The player immediately entered self-quarantine,” the Patriots released in a statement Saturday. “Several additional players, coaches, and staff who have been in close contact with the player received point of care tests this morning and all were negative for COVID-19.”<\/span><\/p>\n

So the league is postponing Sunday’s Week 4 game between the Patriots and Chiefs has been postponed in wake of positive COVID-19 test results from each team, the league announced Saturday. The Patriots are waiting on further testing from the players and coaches before leaving for Kansas City.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“The New England-Kansas City game scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday will be rescheduled to Monday or Tuesday after positive COVID-19 tests on both teams,” the league said in a statement. “In consultation with infectious disease experts, both clubs are working closely with the NFL and the NFLPA to evaluate multiple close contacts, perform additional testing, and monitor developments. All decisions will be made with the health and safety of players, team, and gameday personnel as our primary consideration.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides Patriots quarterback Cam Newton, the Chiefs practice squad QB Jordan Ta’amu have also tested positive for COVID-19 and have been placed on the reserve\/COVID list.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the first time any Patriots player or front office personnel has contacted the coronavirus. Stay tuned for any updates.<\/span><\/p>\n
