New England Patriots<\/strong><\/a> linebacker Dont’a Hightower may not be playing football this year, but he certainly still has his hands full as a new father.<\/p>\n

Back in July, Hightower made the decision<\/a> to opt-out of the 2020 season in an effort to protect the health of his family and newborn son during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do feel that it\u2019s the best decision for my family at this time,\u201d Hightower said in a statement over Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m so grateful for the support of my teammates and coaches as well, and I will try to continue to lead and help as much as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMe and my fianc\u00e9e are just more concerned with the health of our family than football, especially the new addition to our family\u201d, Hightower also told<\/a> NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport.<\/p>\n

Grayson Dash was born on July 16th but only this past weekend did Hightower show the first photos publicly on his Instagram page.<\/p>\n

Hightower wrote the following thank you message to his fans.<\/p>\n

“Thanks for all the love and support we\u2019ve received over the past month! I\u2019m blessed and proud to say that me and\u00a0@morganhart<\/a>\u00a0have added a wonderful addition to our family, Grayson Dash.\u00a0#proudpoppa\u00a0#babyboom\u00a0#blessed ”<\/p>\n
