ESPN reported on Friday that Former Patriots defensive end Chad Eaton will appeal a $12,500 fine for his hit on San Diego quarterback Doug Flutie in last Sunday’s 13-10 overtime victory over the Chargers.<\/p>\n
Eaton slammed Flutie into the ground during the fourth quarter, and the hit resulted in a roughing-the-passer penalty. He felt that a fine on top of that was excessive.<\/p>\n
“I went and watched the film again. It’s not intentional,” said Eaton after the Seahawks practiced on Thursday.<\/p>\n
“The big thing is, Flutie jumps when he throws the ball. When he jumped, I thought he still had the ball. It wasn’t like I meant to do it. I’m friends with Doug. So I’m going to try and appeal. That’s a lot of money.”<\/p>\n
The former New England Patriot was assessed for the fine by the league office on Thursday, and it is the first in his six-year career. He had a quiet game on Sunday otherwise, finishing the game with one solo tackle and one assisted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
