WHO DID THE PATRIOTS GET IN THE 2023 DRAFT?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

2023 Patriots Draft Picks Overall Summary:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Overall, this year’s 2023 Patriots Draft class should give the team some much-needed help at various spots on their\u00a0depth chart. \u00a0Bill Belichick’s selection of 17th\u00a0overall pick, Oregon\u00a0cornerback\u00a0Christian Gonzalez<\/strong>, is the most notable player who will hopefully make an impact in year one in New England’s defense.\u00a0 Third-round pick Marte Mapu<\/strong> should provide a speedy versatile player on defense, as well as possibly be a contributor on special teams.<\/p>\n

Offensive\u00a0guards\u00a0Atonio Mafi<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Sidy Sow<\/strong> are also two potentially big additions to the Patriots offensive line, with Sow also having experience in college at offensive tackle. \u00a0At 6-foot-5, Sow also has the size and power to help improve their ground game on that side of the line. \u00a0The 323 pounder was a beast at Eastern Michigan, which should have many excited to see what he does here in New England.\u00a0 Meanwhile, fourth-round pick Jake Andrews<\/strong> could potentially be a player who replaces David Andrews at some point at center.<\/p>\n

Fellow fourth-round pick kicker Chad Ryland<\/strong> should also potentially push incumbent Nick Folk, with punter Bryce Baringer<\/strong> expected to hopefully stabilize what was a shaky punting unit on special teams in 2022 for the Pats.<\/p>\n

Baringer’s punts were certainly impressive. \u00a0His net average of 45.5 led the nation last season, and his overall numbers are comparable to some of the best players in the NFL.<\/p>\n

Sixth-round picks Kayshon Boutte<\/strong> and Demario Douglas<\/strong> should give the Patriots two wide receivers who could potentially compete for a roster spot this season, adding to last year’s second-round pick, Tyquan Thornton.\u00a0 Boutte also had success as a kick returner in college, making him a solid complement with teammate Marcus Jones.<\/p>\n

Sixth-round selection Ameer Speed<\/strong> and seventh-rounder Isaiah Bolden<\/strong> will provide some depth in the secondary, while also likely giving them some help on special teams.<\/p>\n
