With Tom Brady having officially retired from the NFL this offseason, it appears the Patriots are wasting no time celebrating his incredible tenure here in New England.
In fact, they’re already planning to kick off the season in style by honoring the future Hall of Fame quarterback in the 2023 home opener at Gillette Stadium.
The team tweeted out an announcement on Thursday that the club’s first home game will be a “Thank You Tom Game,” which will see the former New England Patriots QB honored in front of the fans who cheered him on during a career that spanned two decades and included six championships.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft said this morning on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” that he invited Brady back for the event, which Kraft said would, “let the fans in New England thank him for the great service he gave us for over 20 years.”
As a result, despite speculation by some who doubted that Brady might not return to Foxboro to be honored, as the club posted, it looks like “12 is coming home.”
The date and time for the game has yet to be released, with the full NFL Schedule set to be announced later tonight by the NFL. The Patriots already had one game announced on Wednesday, with their game in Germany currently set for a Week 10 match-up against the Indianapolis Colts on November 12th.
