Newly signed Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers raised some eyebrows over Twitter Wednesday after tweeting some brief thoughts after the Patriots signed JuJu Smith-Schuster to what appeared to be a similar contract to what he got in Las Vegas.

The tweet in question below simply read “cold world lol” in response to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport breaking Smith-Schuster contract details.

During his introductory press conference with the Raiders, Meyers provided some clarity to what he meant by the tweet.

“No, not for real. I mean, I just like messing with people honestly. I just like to get under people’s skin. Honestly man, I appreciate them for everything that I’ve been through there. I never really got to say – well, I did get to say goodbye, but I never really got to tell them bye as I was leaving the building. So, that (tweet) was just me being childish forreal. But no, I love them, but I’m also happy to be here.”

In addition to his comments, Meyers also devoted an Instagram post thanking Bill Belichick and Patriots fans for all their support during his four years as a Patriot.

Over his four Patriot seasons, Meyers developed from an undrafted free agent to the teams leading receiver.

Now a Raider, he’ll look to take his career to a higher level in a new offense featuring some of the league’s best offensive players like Devante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, and Josh Jacobs under his old offensive coordinator and current head coach Josh McDaniels.

The Patriots meanwhile, continue to retool their offense with the hopes Smith-Schuster will replace Meyers’ production but also provide more emphasis on his yards after the catch ability.
