The New England Patriots depth at linebacker got thinner this week after the team placed Chase Winovich on injured reserve Tuesday with a hamstring injury.

Per NFL rules, the move means Winovich will miss at minimum three games before he can be eligible to return.

In 2021, Winovich has just seven tackles (four solo, three assists) in six games and has only been on the field for just 18.8 percent of the team’s total defensive snaps, but on special teams, Winovich has played 47 percent of snaps.

To fill his roster spot, the team signed defensive back Myles Bryant from the practice squad.

On Wednesday, Winovich took to his Instagram and shared the following message for Patriots fans.

Through three seasons, Winovich has 82 total tackles, 11 sacks, and an interception return for a touchdown over 38 career games.
