After a rather forgettable 2020 season that saw him play in just six games due to a knee injury, Julian Edelman’s football future appeared to be in serious jeopardy heading into this upcoming season.

Factor in Bill Belichick’s busy week upgrading the Patriots offense in free agency, speculation of an Edelman retirement or the team outright parting ways seemed like a real possibility.

That is until Edelman’s latest post to Instagram on Tuesday.

Take a watch and judge for yourself below.

After viewing the video, did you get the sense Edelman’s Patriots tenure is near an end?

For now, there has still been no official confirmation of Edelman returning to finish out his current deal with the Patriots, but judging by that post, he certainly doesn’t seem like a player who is preparing to walk away.

Or of course, the post means absolutely nothing and the wait on a decision continues.

Back in January, Edelman appeared on the Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast where he made his only public comments regarding his future so far.

“Can we get you to reconsider your retirement from football?” Dan “Big Cat” Katz jokingly asked to kick off the interview.

“You guys are nuts,” Edelman said. “What are you talking about? Right now we’re being a dad right now and we’re sitting back and training, getting our body right for the next year. It’s a time to get away from football right now. It was a long, crazy year. …

“I don’t know. We’re not there yet. This whole year was so jacked up, man. It was so long. I just need to decompress for a little bit. I am out in L.A. right now and taking my kid to school and picking her up, and doing those kind of things that you don’t get to do during the season. I am enjoying that right now, so I don’t necessarily know what you guys are talking about.

In the meantime, it’s officially interpretation of cryptic and vague social media post season as free agency officially begins.
