As J.J. Watt ponders his options following his recent release by the Texans, it appears there’s already a team on his radar.

According to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, Watt is seriously considering joining the Browns.  She reports that Cleveland’s cap space, along with the fact they appear ready to potentially be a contender is what has the veteran pondering making his way to Ohio.

It probably also doesn’t hurt that the Browns face off against his brothers in a division meeting against the Steelers twice a year.  Pittsburgh is a place that Watt would likely prefer to land, but given the Steelers’ current cap situation, that seems unlikely.  As a result, this would certainly be the next best thing.

Watt will certainly have options.  Among teams who are also said to be in the mix are the Titans, Bills, as well as the Packers.  Tennessee has already explored bringing Watt to Nashville, with Cory Curtis from WKRN-TV reporting that Titans General Manager, Jon Robinson, has already said, “we have had some contact” with Watt.

The former Texan has had a tough few years, having played in 16 games for just the second time in 5-years in 2020, but is coming off of a fairly productive campaign.  He finished with 7 passes defended along with an interception, as well as 5 sacks this past season.  Three of those passes defended came against the Patriots back in Week 11 during a 27-20 win over New England.
