Cam Newton and head coach Bill Belichick appear to be gelling well together a month into training camp.

On Instagram Friday, Newton expressed his “gratitude” for Belichick by sharing a photo of the two talking it up on the sidelines during the game simulation walk-through session.

Since Newton signed with the Patriots in June, Belichick has shared nothing but praise towards the former NFL MVP.

“Being with him every day, he’s an extremely hard-working player. ‘First guy in, last one out’ type of guy,” Belichick said on the “Rich Eisen Show” this past Monday.

“He really has studied hard and has spent a lot of extra time trying to learn our offense and our communication, our calls, nomenclature and so forth. I’ve been very impressed with that. He’s done a good job of picking it up. He’s a very skilled athlete.”

With Jarret Stidham battling an injury and Brian Hoyer getting less reps, Newton was asked Wednesday if he felt he’d won the starting quarterback job.

“Absolutely not”, Newton told reporters.

“Every day is a workday for me, and that label is not important to me right now because I know I have so much that I need to get better at, so much that I need to learn, so much that I need to be comfortable with. And throughout this process, that’s the last thing that I’m pretty much worried about. Knowing that there are certain things when I come to the line of scrimmage and it’s just not as firing, mentally, as I would want it to be, rather than other plays that may be called.”

With an opportunity to rejuvenate his career with a future hall of fame head coach, Newton continues to buy into the “Patriot Way” as week one against the Miami Dolphins approaches.
