The NFL career of wide receiver Josh Gordon took another interesting turn on Wednesday when it was revealed his Super Bowl LIII championship ring was put up for auction.

Gordon received the ring for his efforts during the 2018 season despite stepping away from football before the playoff run to “focus on his mental health”.

The league later revealed Gordon was facing an indefinite ban for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement under the NFL drug policy.

In the 11 games Gordon did play for the Patriots, he hauled in 40 receptions for 720 yards and three touchdowns, one of which was the 500th of Tom Brady’s career.

The auction house “Heritage Auction Sports” estimates the ring’s value at $100,000, promoting it on their website as “the last Patriots ring of the Tom Brady era.”

Take a look for yourself in the tweets below, or place your own bid.

As of this summer, Gordon formally applied for reinstatement back in June, but there’s been no indication of whether or not the NFL will give him another chance.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on June 25th that Gordon expects a decision “within the next 30 days”.

Until that happens, Gordon remains a free agent after receiving another indefinite suspension last December while with the Seattle Seahawks.

As for why he put the ring up for sale, one can only speculate.
