Former San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman doesn’t share many positive feelings towards the New England Patriots.

After not one, but two heartbreaking playoff defeats to New England during his career, he took another hit in retirement.

On Father’s Day, Merriman shared a photo of his son getting ready to buy a Brady Super Bowl jersey with a caption that read “Happy Fathers Day to all the real fathers who do things for their kids even if it kills you.”

Merriman’s 2006 and 2007 Chargers both lost shots at a Super Bowl due to Patriots playoff wins. The latter an AFC Championship defeat in Foxboro.

Despite the disappointment, Merriman continued to joke with fans about the tweet.
