Let’s Be Fair – Patriots Have a Real Opportunity

That’s what this whole thing really comes down to….Fairness. Granted fairness, does not necessarily win games, but the Patriots currently have the opportunity to win games and do the right thing. So why not do the right thing? I ask myself that question every day.

We need to look at this from all angles. This is not about liking or not liking Brady. I personally think that Tom has done an excellent job over the past 8 weeks. 5-3? I didn’t think that we would be looking at playoff hopes this year, but hey we’re here now. Brady deserves to play somewhere, but I don’t think that either individual will be happy warming the bench again. Drew doesn’t deserve to and Brady, well Brady has proved that he is good enough to play in the NFL.

As far as this week against the Saints goes. I agree, let’s start Brady, but if things aren’t going well, or if it looks like they just have Brady’s number, then do the right thing and remove him from the game. Give Bledsoe the opportunity on the field. If you can’t give him the reps in practice and he feels as though he is ready, let him prove it. He has said himself that he has never felt better at this point in the season. It’s obvious why, his body has not been put through the stress that it would normally be. What a better opportunity to finish the season off then to play both QBs the rest of the way. Keep them both healthy and not hurting for the playoffs. Let’s make a run at this Pats.

Let’s just give Bledsoe the chance to prove himself again. He shouldn’t have to, but if that’s the way that the game is going to be played then give him the chance. What can you lose? If it doesn’t go well, put Brady back in.

I agree that Belichick is the coach and is in charge of making football decisions, but this doesn’t seem to be strictly based on football. Bledsoe is proven with all the credentials. This is not the same team that went to the SuperBowl, but let’s be serious they just came within 7 points of the best team in football right now. I would say that they had more than a good shot at the win. They have proven that they can play with the best, so let’s make a run at it this year. This no longer needs to be a grooming year.

If it’s experience that Belichick wants to give to Brady, then what a better experience that letting him have some limited playing time in the SuperBowl. I can hear people laughing now, but look at Sunday’s game….people say that they did not play all that well…I agree….they came within 7 points. They can do it. This opportunity will only be here now, so do the right thing, let Bledsoe back in for the sake of the team.

There is of course the possibility that Belichick is playing mind games with all individuals involved. By that I mean, Brady, Bledsoe, and future opponents. If this is so, great idea, but be careful Belichick that it does not explode in your face. I think that you are good coach, but the Pats have had good coaches in the past. I want you to stay, but putting Bledsoe back on the field is not going to hurt your chances of that.

This is the year. Seize the opportunity.
