Disagree on Asante. He is gone I fear. Would like to keep him. But I dont' see we can afford him and moss.

Also disagree on stallworth. He is money after the catch and he is under contract for one more year. Maybe re gets renegotiated to bring his #s down; but I don't see him being cut.

Bruschi: I think he hangs at least one more year. He loves football and watching the Seau - Rodney model I think he wants to play like they do.

Speaking of Rodney; I think he very well could retire after this one - especially if he gets a pick in SB. If not he may have to fight real hard for starting position next year and may not make it to final 53.

Also you forgot a big one: TROY BROWN - Fare thee well. Thanks for the memories. Hope you catch a pass in SB; but unless we are up by 30 I don't think you see the field.

I think the Moss situation needs to be resovled before we decide to cut Stallworth..Or else we will have 06 again losing 2 WR that were a great impact...

Gaffney though should resign, and I think washington will be back and a factor as a WR...

The above poster makes a good point, but I'm very confident that Moss will re-sign, and I think the restraining order only makes it more likely. His teammates and coach really backed him on that, and, after years of dealing with coaches and quarterbacks that threw him under the bus to cover for their own failures, I'm sure that means something to him.

Also, even if Moss were to leave, I would be okay with Gaffney, Welker, Washington, Chad Jackson as receivers.

Staying:
Moss - He's gotta stay here no matter what.
Washington - Almost as important as keeping Moss. He's the strongest WR Brady says he has ever played for, would love to see what he can do after the catch.
Seau - I do not think he retires. He's got more energy and impact at this point in his career than a number of younger players.
Harrison - He's got another 2 years on him and he'll step down just in time for Sanders to take his spot and for Meriweather to become our Ed Reed at FS.
Colvin - Hoping for a restructure here.
Gay - I'm really a big fan of the guy and hope he stays.

Leaving:
Samuel - He wants a big payday, do not begrudge him that but he won't get 80m from the Pats. Screw SF for making that deal.
Stallworth - Between Washington, Gaffney, Jackson and Childress he is a luxury we can't afford.
Bruschi - He is all done, sadly. I think he retires.

If Stallworth renegotiates he will be here. If he doesn't, there is no way we pay almost 7 million for our 3/4 WR.

I think Moss and Colvin will both be back, and that Asante is probably gone. Hope I am wrong on that last one.

I was lambasted for raising this issue a few weeks ago, speculating that quite a few older players might want to leave at the pinacle of their career if they go 19-0... so I'm sure someone's going to jump down all your throats for "whining and worrying" about this

But I think its perfectly natural to speculate about the future. I'm sure BB and Pioli have thought about it - and I'd be interested if anyone thinks they're whiners who can't enjoy this incredible run

To the point at hand - while one sees what contracts run beyond next year, I wouldn't rule out certain guys leaving money on the table. Guys like Bruschi know trading their health for another 2 million or so isn't worth it, and they have nothing else to prove. Bruschi himself is already set to take on a role with SBLI that would pay him pretty well (he's already serving in one capacity)

Harrison too could call it quits. I think Colvin will be back but that depends on his health and salary (though I think they'd let him run out his contract if healthy)

Samuel is as good as gone.

Stallworth is probably gone if Moss re-signs.

Seau is probably gone if they win the SB.

The good news is the OL looks in good shape as does the DL. But I expect we'll be very active in free agency at LB this offseason.

I think Gaffney stays and Stallworth goes. I like Stallworth, but he is expensive, and did you see how his and Gaffney's production switched places toward the end of the season (Stallworth's dropped while Gaffney's rose considerably). I like Gaffney, too. He's proved himself these past two years, especially in the offseason, and I think he would be far cheaper than Stallworth.

I'd really like to see the Pats come to terms with Asante, but I am doubtful it will happen. Belichick recognizes Asante's worth, who has proven it these past two years, but that does not match what Asante can get on the open market. Asante would have to take a home town discount to stay, and while I think it still would be a substantial contract by Pats standards, I fear Asante will follow the money elsewhere.

have you watched the Pats this yr?

rodney is actually our best safety
i feel that meriweather might soon pass him, but there is no way if rodney came back that he would struggle to make the starting lineup let alone the squad
