Which QB (Brady/Flacco) has the better weapons?

Give me Brady, while throwing in Belichick, and Josh McDaniels, and then as somebody (perhaps Bum Phillips?) once said about Bear Bryant:

He'll take his'ns and beat your'ns,
then iff'n he wanted to,
he'd take your'ns and beat his'ns

I like most of your rankings, but no way I would put Lloyd ahead of Boldin and its not even close. Boldin is a beast to cover. Lloyd is still making some mental errors out there and not getting in sync with Brady. There's no comparison of the two.

By that token, it seems Smith is overrated, as Lloyd outproduced him in his first year as a Pat.

None of our receivers or TE's could beat Champ 1-on-1, smith did, in that sense he tops Wes in the rankings, Wes is 2, Boldin outshines both Lloyd and branch, and jones hasn't had amazing stats, but honestly is prob more talented than Lloyd...branch is lowest

Pierce when running is awesome, better than anyone but Ridley on our team (2 games are not enough to propel vereen ahead of him yet)

TE's it's ravens as well

so the edge for weapons has to go to Brady (which is thread topic)

If u include QB, Oline, OC, we win

I'm pretty sure Welker could absolutely smoke Champ Bailey working the slot.

I like Lloyd, but I agree with you. Boldin doesn't immediately hit the deck when he catches the ball, either.

Not only does he not immediately hit the deck, he clearly relishes trucking DBs. He's the toughest WR in the NFL, without doubt.

The Ravens are better at the skill positions. Throw Gronk in there and I think the nod go's to the Pats.

Seriously, what is the deal here. WW is clearly head and shoulders above Smith...like, not even in the realm of being a close call. Jones most certainly isn't above Lloyd. Hernandez is better than any TE the Ravens have. Woodhead is better than Pierce, and Vereen may be but there's not enough evidence to say.

WRs - Patriots, in a close one, but an argument could be made for the Ravens
TE - Patriots, in a closer match than it would have been with a healthy Gronk
RBs - Patriots, because Rice is #1, but the Patriots win on depth.

It's a clean sweep, IMO. However, this is not a game where overall talent is going to matter for either team. What's going to matter here is the talent/fit ratio. By that, I mean that Welker is a better receiver than Smith, but Smith is a tremendous fit for a Ravens team that is looking to go downfield, while Welker would lose a little bit of his impact playing for a guy like Flacco, who's not the best at working underneath.

Looking at it that way, I'd say that the losses of Gronk and Edelman make it a close call in favor of the Patriots. If both of them were available, I'd have given it to the Patriots in a landslide.

A QB is as good as the O-Line allows him to be.

Brady is a brilliant timing passer.. disrupt the timing and his effectiveness is reduced.

The success of the Patriots on Sunday will lie in the ability of their O-line to allow Brady to be still in the Pocket.

Conversely if the Pats cannot get to Flacco.. it will be problems for them.

I have to lean towards the Ravens here based on their pass rush of late and the excellent play of their O-Line of late.

Protecting our QBs will be key, this is true. We've played some great pass rushing teams... Miami twice, Denver, SF, Houston twice and have always had good protection.

On the flip side, we havent brought much pressure on opposing QBs without blitzing especially without a healthy Chandler Jones. We have been blitzing much more recently than in the first half of the season.

But you have yet to see our secondary.

Last AFCCG, we played DMC and Arrington on the corners with Sterling Moore in the slot and Ihedigbo and Chung at safety. Zero of these players start at these spots anymore. Chung doesn't even get dime reps. And we dont play a vanilla zone anymore.

DMC has secured the deep part of the field. Talib and Dennard play aggressive press man. I wouldnt recommend throwing deep in double coverage because DMC is no R Moore. Youre essentially throwing into double coverage with 2 CBs on very good but not great receivers. IE You have no Johnson (either), Fitz, etc.

And to the pats fan saying none of our players could beat Champ 1v1, I say BS. Gronk on Champ, huge mismatch. AH and WW could surely beat him too. None of these players have the straight line speed to consistently get over the top of Champ, however.

The Ravens have a great receiving core with size and speed. If I could snag one from there team for a season it'd be Boldin. I know we need a deep threat but I think we need a physical, big receiver even more. He has great hands and fits perfectly into our short-intermediate passing game. When he's in the slot, Arrington is going to have his hands full. This could be a major mismatch. Hopefuly, Kyle is up to the challenge.
